A gentleman must do what he says, and be careful not to be too trusting in his promises---Study Chapter 24 of "The Analects of Confucius? Liren 4"

Today I studied Chapter 24 of "Ren 4 in The Analects of Confucius": Confucius said: "A gentleman wants to be slow in words and quick in deeds."

Being slow is to be cautious. meaning. Min means agile. The meaning of this chapter is: "A gentleman often thinks that he is slow in speech but quick in action." Why did Confucius say this? Confucius believed that people at that time were too lazy to promise and lazy to implement, so he warned students to keep their promises seriously, do what they say, and not to brag.

Lao Tzu also said that light promises will lead to low faith. People's time and energy are limited. If you talk too much and take action, you won't be able to keep up, and your promises will inevitably fail to be fulfilled. That’s why the Yin Fu Jing says, “One source of ultimate benefit requires ten times the force, and three antis use the force ten thousand times day and night.” Only by concentrating time, energy, and resources can we achieve excellence and “use it and do it.” The key is Only by doing what you say you will be able to deliver successfully. Therefore, what Confucius taught may not only be self-cultivation, but also methodology, the method of "only the best, only the best, and the best".

The "gentleman" here can be said to be a person who has an epiphany in theory and gradually practices in practice. He warned his disciples that knowing something does not mean being able to do it. In other words, you know a lot, are a great scholar, and have considerable understanding and experience, but you may not be able to truly practice it. Only by talking less (that is, being slow in speaking) and doing more (that is, being quick in action) can you truly cultivate.

If you only stay at the level of knowing and fail to achieve it, it is just the knowledge and concepts of the mind. If you preach everywhere without being silent, you will not only be unable to help others open up their own original mind and nature, but also have Sometimes it can lead people astray.

Many people spend their whole life learning to do things, only to gain more knowledge and knowledge, and a few more zeros in their bank accounts. They go around showing that they are, that they are capable, that they are slow, but their wisdom is not truly opened. In fact, it is A waste of life.

There is also a deeper meaning. "Neyan" and "Smart Action" only talk about one thing. If you look deeply at the word "desire" and "er", you will know that when doing a specific thing, speak less or stop talking, live fully in every moment, and concentrate on doing every action in the moment, that is, quick action. Only then can life fully bloom and have infinite possibilities.
