1937 in Chen Jialong

Born in Yongkang County, Zhejiang Province, 1963 graduated from the Chinese Painting Department of Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts and studied under Pan Tianshou. Later, he taught at Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts. 1983 Professor, Department of Chinese Painting, Academy of Fine Arts, Shanghai University. Since the 1970s, I have studied landscape painting and calligraphy from Lu. In his early years, Chen Jialing was famous for his characters. He was inspired by Lu's flexible brushwork when he created landscape paintings, and he also created figure paintings with delicate and unique brushwork. Its precise and beautiful shape, elegant and continuous lines, elegant and quite difficult, left a deep impression on the audience and made it famous all over the world.

But at this time, Chen Jialong resolutely gave up the painting style that was almost unanimously recognized and optimistic inside and outside the painting world, and took flower-and-bird painting as a breakthrough to explore new techniques and unique artistic conception. A number of lotus pictures appeared for the first time, skillfully using the smudge effect of rice paper and ink painting to create an ethereal, elegant and minimalist picture. He deeply studied Chinese painting materials, conducted a variety of comparative experiments, and chose materials that were particularly suitable for his new painting style. This artistic conception of painting is not only brand-new, full of fresh breath of the open era and modern abstract composition interest, but also ancient, which clearly reveals the life attitude and aesthetic orientation of Laozi and Zhuangzi's philosophy.

As soon as the brand-new painting style came out, it caused two completely different reactions. In 1980s, 1949, the first monograph in the western world that comprehensively introduced China artists-The Art of New China, edited and published by Cohen Gallery in the United States, chose Chen Jialong's Lotus Picture as the cover and Chen Yifei's Pacing as the back cover, which profoundly revealed the breakthrough and significance of China artists in oil painting and Chinese painting after the reform and opening up.
