Zha Shibiao’s representative works

The composition is clear and layered. The brush used is mainly straight, square and folded lines. Although the trees and rocks are broad and sparse, the depiction is subtle. The shape is similar to that of Ni Yunlin, but the connotation is different. Later generations commented that Cha Shibiao's paintings are "lazy in style and desolate in spirit". It forms a style that is clear, refreshing, and simple in brushwork and ink. If Ni Zan's paintings are elegant and graceful, then Mei He Sanren's paintings indeed reveal a casual, elegant, lazy and cold charm, which is unique in his own style and is a typical representative work of Cha Shibiao. This picture was drawn by the author at the invitation of his friend Wang Cilang from Tongli, Wang's residence, Shuiyunju. Scenic spots in the area. The brushwork is concise and the composition is clear and distant. It is the author's representative work of landscape painting. The end of the volume is from the end of the 19th line of the postscript [Three days after Kangxi Ding Weixiu, a friend in Tongli checked the scholar's mark and identified it]. There are two seals: [二Look] and [Zha Shibiao]. It also bears many seals such as [Wuxing Pang's Collection] and other collection seals. There are several tall trees on the near slope of the picture, with water and stone beach in the middle, and distant mountains are arranged at the top of the picture, using the typical composition pattern in Ni Yunlin's works. picture. The landscape is desolate and cold, the writing style is sparse and simple, and the calligraphy is learned from Dong Qichang. The picture is self-titled "Looking alone at the stream pavilion. The Yimao Guiyue was written in the Waiting Goose Tower, Cha Shibiao." It was in the 14th year of Kangxi's reign in the Qing Dynasty (1675), and the author was 61 years old. The seal has a white seal with the square seal "Shibiaozhi", a Zhu Wen square seal with the seal "Second View", and the first seal with a Zhu Wen square seal has the seal "Mei He".
