Why is writing with a hard pen also called "calligraphy"

Hard pen calligraphy and brush calligraphy are inextricably linked.

Although ballpoint pens and fountain pens are popular all over the world now, everyone will write hard pen in daily life, but the hard pen characters in China are different from those in foreign countries.

Hard pen writing is also calligraphy for the following reasons:

1. Our hard pen is to write square characters, that is, Chinese, not static, unlike the 26 letters in English, which are all combined. Although there are so-called calligraphy in English now, it is a decorative art and cannot be compared with the writing art in Chinese.

2. Hard-pen calligraphy is also born out of the brush, which is made by the continuous simplification of traditional Chinese characters. Nowadays, hard-pen calligraphy is like writing small letters like stationery or handwritten letters.

There are indeed many people who write beautifully with hard pen. This beauty is artistic and creative, so it can also be called calligraphy.
