What is the evolution of China fonts?

The evolution and development of China fonts are closely related to social development, living habits and the needs of calligraphy art.

The original calligraphy of bamboo and silk books before Qin and Han dynasties usually only appears in bamboo and silk couplets. In ancient times, bamboo was the main material of bamboo, and the ropes used to weave bamboo slips were mostly beef tendon, silk thread and hemp rope. The earliest archaeological discoveries of bamboo slips and silk books include Qin slips unearthed in Yunmeng, Hubei Province and the book of the Warring States League unearthed in Houma, Shanxi Province (the book of the League is written or recorded).

Silk Books of the Warring States Period Unearthed in Mawangdui, Changsha. China's calligraphy developed from Oracle Bone Inscriptions and inscriptions on bronze to the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period. Due to the warlord regime, the figures since Shang Dynasty embarked on different development paths in the vassal states. During this period, the forms and techniques of calligraphy also presented a situation in which a hundred schools of thought contended.

The "Tadpole Prose" of the Northern Jin Dynasty and the "Bird Book" of Wu, Yue, Chu and Cai are even more tortuous. The bronze inscriptions in the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period are no longer as thick as those in the Western Zhou Dynasty, but are replaced by slender figures, showing a round and beautiful appearance, such as "attacking the king of Wu and hiding the difference". This period left a lot of ink, including bamboo slips, silk books, league books and so on.

Seal script also retains the obvious characteristics of ancient hieroglyphics. Xiao Zhuan, also known as "Qin Zhuan", is a common script of Qin State, which was standardized by Li Si and others. Xiao Zhuan is a simplified font of Da Zhuan, which is characterized by uniform and neat fonts and is easier to write than Shu Zhuan. In the development history of Chinese characters, it is a transitional period from Da Zhuan to Li Kai.
