Mi Fu, one of the four great masters of the Northern Song Dynasty

Mi Fu (also known as Mi Xiangyang, Minangong, etc., 1051-1107), named Yuanzhang, was also known as Haiyue Waishi, also known as the descendant of Xiongxiong and the descendant of Huozheng. He was born in Xiangyang, Hubei, native of Shanxi, was a calligrapher, painter and calligraphy and painting theorist in the Northern Song Dynasty. He founded the "Midian Landscape" and was collectively known as the "Four Masters of Song Dynasty" together with Cai Xiang, Su Shi and Huang Tingjian. Mi Fu is famous for his calligraphy, and his greatest achievement is running script. He is also good at seal script, official script, regular script, cursive script and other calligraphy styles. He is good at copying ancient calligraphy to the point of imitating it. He was once awarded a doctorate in calligraphy and painting by Emperor Huizong of the Song Dynasty. He is an all-rounder who is a calligrapher, painter, connoisseur, and collector. His extant works mainly include "Poems on Duojinglou", "Poems on Hongxian County", and "Yanshan Inscriptions".
