—— Wang Yong (Professor of Central Academy of Fine Arts, seal engraver of calligraphy and painting)
Wang Dongsheng's landscape painting is a gratifying abstract landscape painting. He studied oil painting, and his understanding and grasp of abstract painting is beyond the reach of well-trained China painters. In the seemingly pen-and-ink painting works, the abstract rules derived from western painting will subconsciously control him, so it is more in line with the abstract rules. This situation is the same as that of Liu. He may have introduced western modern painting ideas to carry out innovative experiments, and inadvertently developed abstract landscape painting, not out of rational consciousness. Therefore, it can be recognized by some critics as the so-called "one-product landscape".
But there are also differences with Liu. Liu was a rebel against the tradition of Chinese painting when he was young, and even the brush was "revolutionized" by him. Therefore, his ink paintings are always suspected to be Chinese paintings. Wang Dongsheng is an admirer of China's traditional paintings, especially literati paintings. Learn not only literati painting, but also calligraphy. Because of this, his abstract landscape paintings have strong Chinese painting characteristics, which is exactly what I have always advocated.
If you don't pay attention to pen and ink in abstract landscape painting, it will easily be alienated into western abstract ink painting. Fortunately, Liu skillfully emphasized the artistic conception of landscape painting, so although there is no pen and ink, it is still moving. There are also abstract landscape paintings in Wu Guanzhong's ink paintings. He not only advocated "pen and ink equals zero", but also paid no attention to artistic conception, so his achievements were limited. However, Rainbow Dongsheng, an abstract landscape painting, is rarely seen, in which traditional pen and ink play a role. Most of the things I've seen have pen and ink problems like Wu Guanzhong's.

The beauty of Wang Dongsheng's Preface to the High Pavilion lies in his fascination, simple and ethereal peaks and grass pavilions, brilliant brushwork and superb painting.
—— Jiang Qing (professor and theorist of Guizhou University)
Lanting Ji Ya, a beautiful talk through the ages. It has also become a cultural shrine, which is due to a calligraphy work by Wang. Alas, for thousands of years, Wang Xizhi's Chinese civilization and literary talent have achieved this with only a dime. Calligraphy art, can it not be sacred? Dong Sheng, a descendant of Wang, wandered in his native land and felt a lot. He wrote Preface to Lanting with his poetic feelings and entrepreneurial heart, which is also brilliant. Although it is different from the ink of his ancestors, the style of the times is as beautiful as running water, and his young talent reminds people of the charm of Zhou Lang. There is naturally a spring breeze in my heart, and the sunshine illuminates my head. So, the letter handwritten the words on the right, thinking it would be soon?

Dongsheng was originally a painting major, and started to dabble in China painting and calligraphy from oil painting, with a broad vision. Besides, he has many comments, and many short and interesting essays and essays that can make people laugh. Even his own Chronicle (in a collection of essays) is quite distinctive and can get a knowing smile. There are many ink paintings and calligraphy works of his true colors, which are pregnant with vigorous vitality in the seemingly clever, childlike and heavy sense of form.
-Ding Xiyuan (deputy director of Shanghai Art Museum, theorist)
I have known Dongsheng for some time. He doesn't look like a painter, and he doesn't look like many painters of this era. He is more like a portrait, always sitting quietly somewhere, looking at the world. Only when a painter calms down in this world can the world move in his heart and live in his paintings.
—— Huang Jisu (researcher and scholar of China Academy of Social Sciences)
Dongsheng, a professional in oil painting, has been painting oil paintings for ten years. After the edification and training of Chinese and western plastic culture, he formed a unique pattern of pen and ink. Most of his ink landscapes are vertical and vertical, solitary and high, pursuing a slightly abstract and formal effect. It can also be said that he symbolizes the traditional literati landscape to a great extent. At the same time, at the top of the mountain or at the foot of the mountain, Dongsheng always adds the shape of a stupa as a symbol of being far away from the secular world, which is slightly abrupt and weird in the picture, reminiscent of the strange eyes of fish and birds in the eight famous works, and a gesture of Geng Jie that does not fluctuate with the secular world.
—— Zhu Dongli (researcher and scholar of China Academy of Art)
Dongsheng is still in the cocoon, and we are waiting to see him break into a butterfly.
Not everyone can bind themselves, and not everyone can be reborn. From here to there, you need all kinds of practice. What many people can do before the Voice of the East. What he can do in the future is beyond the reach of many people. Because of humility, opportunities are open to him; Because he is eager to learn, knowledge is open to him; Because of hard work, the road is open to him. In addition, and most importantly, he has a sense of the other shore, which determines that he cannot be swallowed up by the current painting and calligraphy circles.
—— Wang (professor, painter and art critic of Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology)
Mr. Dongsheng's paintings show that the "spiritual and cultural characteristics" and "ideological and emotional characteristics" in his paintings are inseparable from his personal natural endowment and cultivated emotions. In the Eastern Han Dynasty, Cai Yong, who was well versed in Confucian classics and had defined the Six Classics, had been longing for a life realm of "keeping Gao Shou's interests" and "being carefree and enjoying it" in the materialistic era, and this life realm was once again obtained in Mr. Dongsheng's paintings. The ancients talked about painting and said, "You must ask your temperament before you start writing". Therefore, in a sense, the technical quality, aesthetic character and even spiritual interest of Mr. Dongsheng's paintings are actually the natural and true realization of his emotion, spirit and temperament.

Nowadays, smart people are all over the world, and there are very few people with great wisdom. Building great wisdom requires great talent, great understanding and great determination. It is natural that things are scarce. Today's so-called art, grandstanding, scheming to steal opportunities, and so on. Dongsheng is sincere, diligent, knowledgeable, knowledgeable, practical, well-intentioned, focused and straightforward, modest and silent, and a gentleman is eager to learn, which makes me respect. Dongsheng's art, where the oil painting is fresh and moist, where the Chinese painting is fantastic and ethereal, where the calligraphy seal cutting is fresh and beautiful, and where the composition is magnificent, proves that young students are rare. The ancients said: turning a blind eye is like blindness. I am not blind, so I have been focused for a long time and have high expectations. Believe me, I'm right. Art is a spiritual undertaking, and secularism is a philosophy of life. I believe Dongsheng's self-reliance and good health will definitely make people sit up and take notice.
-Mei Mosheng (painter and theorist of China National Academy of Painting)
In fact, Dongsheng's aesthetic ideal and Ni Zan do have many similarities. For example, both of them eliminated the most secular "human" activities in their works, and both of them emphasized the escape of their works. But Dongsheng's creation is still different from Ni Zan's. If Ni Zan completely eliminated human activities and even traces in his works, Dongsheng kept traces of human activities in his works. This is also the reason why Dongsheng's works often install pavilions at the top of the mountain or on the side of the mountain. Because any pavilion is a trace of people's activities. Of course, it is those pavilions that let us clearly see Dongsheng's self-righteousness: the future is in Sri Lanka. Only in this way, Wang Dongsheng's "disapproval" or "self-righteousness" is not an escape, but a manifestation of self-confidence. Because of this full self-confidence, the escape spirit repeatedly emphasized by Dongsheng's friends smells like an old chap and an idiot like me.
-Zhang Yu (theorist)
Wang Dongsheng's pen and ink, like fish in a deep pool, is not easy to read. Once you see it, it will lead you to the abyss vividly, making you feel clear, free and unimpeded. It is also like the clothes and figure of a man who practices in a deep mountain. The mountains and rivers between the lines are the sound of books in the forest of that man in a deep mountain, or the Sanskrit sound at dusk. Some of those paintings and calligraphy works, such as movie posters, touching details and wonderful shots, touching actions and shocking dialogues, are all in his narrative. In his mind, it goes without saying that something needs to be sucked up by heart, but its taste can make people look around for days. Looking at his paintings and calligraphy, I feel gradually clear. He spends a lot of time meticulously and wholeheartedly "painting". He is unwilling, and unwilling. In any case, his paintings belong to the category of literati playing. Although not Huang Zhong and Lu Da, they are not out of tune, just like a game of chess played by Dr. Xie before the war, and also like a poem that Zhuge Wuhou slept in. However, in those idle pen and ink, the taste of Zhang's water shield soup sometimes floats out, which makes people think of Nanshan or Zhuangsheng's leisurely tour. It is also doubtful. For the viewer, it should be a pot of idle tea or hum a little song. Take your time and you will see more emotions and tastes.
