Who's Zhao Puchu?

Zhao Puchu/Kloc-0 was born in Anqing on October 5th, 1907, 165438, 1965438 and moved back to his hometown in Si Qian River, Taihu County with his parents. He studied at Soochow University (now Suzhou University) in his early years. After 1928, he successively served as secretary of Shanghai Jiangsu and Zhejiang Buddhist Federation, secretary of Shanghai Buddhist Association, president of "Buddhist Pure Industry Society" and president of Siming Bank. After 1938, he served as director of Shanghai Cultural Salvation Association, secretary and secretary-general of Chinese Buddhist Association, member of the Standing Committee of Shanghai Cilian Relief War Zone Refugee Committee and director of the reception unit, vice president of Shanghai Jingyi Street Children's Rehabilitation Hospital, and head of Shanghai Juvenile Village. 1945 participated in the establishment of China association for promoting democracy. 1946, he served as managing director and general manager of Shanghai Antong Transportation Company and Shanghai Huatong Transportation Company. 1949 Director-General of Shanghai Temporary Joint Disaster Relief Committee, Standing Committee Member and Vice Chairman of China People's Committee for Defending World Peace, and Standing Committee Member of Asia-Africa Solidarity Committee. 1950, he served as vice chairman and secretary general of China People's Aid Association Shanghai Branch, deputy director of East China Ministry of Civil Affairs and Ministry of Personnel, and deputy director of the Political and Legal Committee of Shanghai Municipal People's Government. After 1953, he successively served as vice president and secretary general of Chinese Buddhist Association, director of Chinese Writers Association, vice president of China-China Friendship Association, vice president of China-Myanmar Friendship Association, vice president and honorary vice president of Red Cross Society, and vice president of China People's Association for Peace and Disarmament. After 1980, he successively served as President of Chinese Buddhist Association, Dean of China Buddhist College, Consultant of Senior Buddhist College of Tibetan Language Department of China, Chairman of China Religious Peace Committee, Vice Chairman of China Calligraphers Association, Standing Committee of China Democratic Progressive Party Central Committee, Director, Vice Chairman, Honorary Chairman and Vice Chairman of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. He used to be a member and member of the Standing Committee of Shanghai CPPCC and a representative of Shanghai Municipal People's Congress. He is the first, second, third, fourth and fifth NPC deputies. As a representative of patriotic religious circles, Su Wen, editor-in-chief of the Collection of Paintings and Calligraphy of China in Past Dynasties, attended the first plenary session of the China People's Political Consultative Conference, served as a member of the first, second and third sessions of the CPPCC, a member of the Standing Committee of the fourth and fifth sessions of the CPPCC, and a vice-chairman of the sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth sessions of the CPPCC. On May 2 1 2000, she died of illness in Beijing at the age of 93. Mr. Zhao Puchu's Lingta is located in Huokeji at the northern foot of Beifeng Mountain.
