The construction of the Forbidden City in Beijing began in the 4th year of Yongle (1406) and was completed in the 18th year of Yongle (1420). At the beginning of the building, there was naturally only one Chinese character on the plaque of the palace.
1644, the Qing army invaded Beijing, and the Qing dynasty made Beijing its capital. The inscriptions on the plaques in the Forbidden City were written in Manchu, Mongolian and Chinese, mainly because the Manchu aristocrats at that time were familiar with Mongolian and gained the support of various Mongolian ministries politically and militarily.
1On February 7th, 657, the emperor shunzhi issued an imperial edict: "The ancestral temple plaque stopped writing Mongolian characters, but only filled in Chinese characters". Later, the Mongolian characters on the palace tablet were gradually cancelled.
