Feng Yansi in the middle of the word is Zhong You, the eldest son of Feng Lingqi, a senior official in the Southern Tang Dynasty. His grandfather moved to fengcun, Xiuning County, Zhou She, which is now fengcun, Xiuning County, Anhui Province. His father ordered Qi to follow Li Bian, a martyr in the Southern Tang Dynasty. After the founding of the Southern Tang Dynasty, he served as an official and settled in Guangling, now Yangzhou City, Jiangsu Province, which is called Guangling in history books.

Feng Yansi was a famous poet and prime minister in the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period. He served as an official in the Southern Tang Dynasty and the Middle-earth Dynasties, and met with the Prime Minister three times. The official to the prince was a teacher and died of loyalty. Most of his poems are leisurely, with a strong sense of literati, which had a great influence on poets in the early Northern Song Dynasty. In the early Song Dynasty, Tan Yan Diao commented on its profound knowledge, incisive articles and vertical and horizontal arguments, and a collection of words, Yangchunji, was handed down from generation to generation.

Li Yu is proficient in calligraphy, painting, melody and poetry, especially in ci. Li Yu's ci has inherited the tradition of Huajian poets such as Wen and Wei Zhuang since the late Tang Dynasty, and has been influenced by Li Jing and Feng Yansi. Its language is bright, vivid, sincere and distinctive. After the national subjugation, his ci was characterized by a wide range of themes and profound meanings, and it was unique among the five pronouns in the late Tang Dynasty, which had a far-reaching influence on the later ci circles.
