The country is like a dream, orchids are in Japan

"When you climb high, you humble yourself, and when you travel far, you are far away. When I came back from you yesterday, I sang these eight characters in my heart. The shadows of clouds, sky and light in Shanghai, and the infinite splendor of the world, all flowed through your window. The pink and white walls, It is a Tibetan Scripture Pavilion without a single word. Eighteen kinds of martial arts are not as good as your delicate hands."

This is a letter written by Hu Lancheng for his first visit to Zhang Ailing. It is so impressive that I picked it up. on the cold moon.

Since his exile in Japan in 1950, Hu Lancheng has lived in Tokyo. He wears a long gown all day long and is quite recognizable. He also has three or five close friends among the Japanese. He died of heart failure in July 1981.

His funeral was held at Seigan-in in Fussa City, Tokyo, an ancient Rinzai sect temple built in the Muromachi period. Former Japanese Prime Minister Takeo Fukuda, Asahi Kasei President Teru Miyazaki, critic Yasuda Yoshitsune, Chairman of Kokugakuin University Chairman Matsuo Saburo, Tokyo Imperial Palace Calligrapher Mikuho Kuwahara, and politician Akagi Munoku attended as representatives of friends and came to express their condolences. Each received a copy of Hu Lancheng's handwriting - "The country is like a dream".

Hu Lancheng's name appears most frequently in the works of Yasuda and Shigero, especially those from the 1960s and 1970s. As the founders and leaders of "Japanese Romanticism", Yasuda and Shigero were obsessed with tragic heroes and great losers. "Our country's Nippon Takeru, Go-Tobain, or Kiso Yoshinaka, and Otomo Iatemochi are all heroes and poets that I am passionate about. They all became eternal because of their great defeats. For those who have lived through ugliness. In my life, I have never had any admiration for people who hold great power in their later years."

This is probably the main reason why Yasuda and Shigero fell in love with Hu Lancheng. According to records, the first encounter between Yasuda and Shigero and Hu Lancheng was on October 20, 1965. The two of them attended the Sun Wensheng Centennial Festival and the unveiling ceremony of the Miyazaki Toten Memorial Statue held in Arao City, Kumamoto Prefecture. Yasuda and Shigero recorded this in detail in "Desperation", and also described an intriguing historical episode.

On the day of the unveiling ceremony, Sun Ke and his wife, Sun Zhiping and his wife, made a special trip from the United States. The Ambassador of the Republic of China to Japan and Sun Ke and his entourage sat in the guest seats, and Hu Lancheng sat next to Yasuda and Shigero. Before Sun Ke and his entourage said goodbye, they first walked to Hu Lancheng's seat to reminisce about old times. "Mr. Hu is a desperate man. There is Sun Ke's signature on Mr. Hu's wanted order. But Sun Ke, standing in front of Mr. Hu, is so gentle. The ambassador to Japan stretched out his hand to shake Mr. Hu's hand first. "

Until Hu Lancheng's death, Baotian and Chonglang had a close relationship with him, visiting each other's homes, sending letters to each other, and giving each other manuscripts. Hu Lancheng's Japanese works "The Heart Sutra Suixi" and "The New Book of the Founding of the Nation" also devoted the efforts of Yasuda and Shigero. He tirelessly proofread Japanese and gave the Heart Sutra to the Japanese mathematician Oka Kiyo, who in turn introduced Hideki Yukawa, the later Nobel Prize winner, to Hu Lancheng.

Baotian and Shigero admired Hu Lancheng very much. "In my opinion, Hu Lancheng is the first-class scholar in the world today, and he is a 'revolutionary'. This man made me see 'revolution', 'rebellion' and life. On top of this, he also made me see True elegance and writing. "

"I can often feel the passion and determination contained in Mr. Hu Lancheng's gentle character. This person is beyond my reach, and this poem and writing are beyond my reach. His thoughts are the highest in the world today."

"There is only one hero in Japan who gives me hope that shakes my heart."

Hu Lancheng's calligraphy is also highly regarded in Japan. He was highly respected and held calligraphy exhibitions in Tokyo, Ibaraki, Nagoya, Osaka and other places in 1969. Fukuda Takuo hung Hu Lancheng's "Qi Yi Ren Zhong Long" in the niche of his tea room. Kawabata Yasunari also did not hesitate to praise, "In terms of calligraphy, today's people are not as good as the ancients, and the Japanese are not as good as the Chinese. Hu Lancheng's calligraphy is unmatched by anyone in Japan."

Needless to say, Yasuda and Shigero said, "Mr. Hu's books are The revelation of his personality is a masterpiece today. His elegance is steeped in strength, his inner strength is soft but his beauty is sometimes gorgeous, making people miss the eternal loneliness of life."

A hundred years is so short, and an inch of shade is so long.

One afternoon, I took the JR Ome Line to Fussa City. I came out of the west exit and walked straight along the road on the left for about 5 minutes. I turned left at the traffic light in front of an earth-colored apartment and walked straight for about 4 minutes. , you can see a cemetery at the end of the road. Among the hundreds of tombstones, the one with "Orchid" engraved on it is Hu Lancheng's eternal resting place.

On the left side of the tombstone, there are three characters of Hu Lancheng and a seal. On the right side is engraved "Hu Lancheng died on July 15, 1981, and his name was Hu Lancheng, layman".

On the right side of the tombstone is "Hu Lancheng's inscription", which is roughly his resume.

This is the ambition

On both sides of the "Orchid", there are tall weeds. There are a few dead branches stuck in the two flower cups on the left and right of the tombstone. I don't know what year or month someone came here to pay their respects.

This is the tomb of a passionate and ruthless man, a loser, a traitor, a scholar in troubled times, and a Chinese who won the respect of the Japanese with his articles and calligraphy.

With this in mind, the author borrowed a wooden barrel from Qingyanyuan to wash the tombstone, remove the weeds, replace it with flowers, and burn a wisp of incense.

The person who sleeps here considers himself "a prodigal son not only for his hometown, but also for the years." However, "Since ancient times, the country has been like a beautiful woman. Although she respects the sages, she loves to please the prodigal."
