After the "September 18th Incident", Suzhou citizens were mobilized to carry out anti-Japanese and national salvation activities such as collecting military supplies, treating wounded soldiers, sheltering refugees, burying fallen soldiers and rescuing the "Seven Gentlemen". After the founding of People's Republic of China (PRC), Li Genyuan served as a member of the Southwest Military and Political Committee, the Southwest Administrative Committee, the China People's Political Consultative Conference Committee and the Deputy Director of the Literature and History Research Committee. 1965 died in Beijing on July 6th, and was buried in Xiaowangshan, Wuxian in the same year.
1985, Wuxian People's Government restored Que 'e Cottage and changed it into Li Genyuan Memorial Hall. Meanwhile, the graves of Li Genyuan and his wife were restored. In 2003, Wuzhong District rebuilt the Li Genyuan Memorial Hall in its original site and opened it in July 2004.
The newly-built Li Genyuan Memorial Hall is bright, simple and solemn. The exhibition consists of four parts: the introduction of Mr. Li Genyuan, the romance of civil and military affairs, Li Genyuan and Xiaowangshan, and the memory of Yin Gong at the top of the mountain. 202 photos, 48 materials, 2 physical objects 1 piece, stone carvings 1 piece, old works by Li Genyuan1piece. In February 2005, Li Genyuan Memorial Hall was named as a patriotic education base by the Propaganda Department of Wuzhong District Committee.
