Translation of "Shili Hongzhuang":
When my hair grows to my waist, will you marry me?
When you are crowned, will you marry me?
I am afraid that when the time comes, you will fall in love with someone else.
When you are crowned adults, you can only look at the beautiful woman in your arms smiling with envy.
"Ten Miles of Red Makeup" Contemporary. He Xiaodao
Original text:
It would be nice to marry me as a young man when my hair reaches my waist.
Would you like to spread your red makeup for ten miles when your green silk hair is straight?
But he is afraid that his long hair will reach his waist, and the young man will fall in love with others.
When your green silk hair is upright, smile and see your smiling face.
Appreciation of "Ten Miles of Red Makeup":
"When my hair grows to my waist" refers to women.
"I'll treat you well" refers to men.
The whole poem is narrated in a woman's tone. It does not mean that someone has changed their heart, but it reveals a kind of helplessness of "not being able to meet the right person at the right time".
The last two sentences are about waiting for a woman to come of age, but a man cannot hold hands with her; and when a man comes of age, he cannot be with his beloved for various reasons, and his beloved can only smile (but You may not be able to look at it with a smile), and the beauty in the man's arms may not be what he really likes.
The whole poem exudes a kind of helplessness caused by missing out.
