Zhou Ji, a scholar in the late Qing Dynasty, commented on Zhou Bangyan's Poem Selected Poems of Song Sijia: "Only the Tiantai incident has been endowed with profound significance", which means that this poem is only a description and evaluation of the immortal love on Tiantai Mountain, and there is nothing else to express. According to the Records of Searching for the Gods by Gambao in the Eastern Jin Dynasty and Travel in the Southern Dynasties, during the period of Emperor Wudi in the Eastern Han Dynasty, there were two young people in Tongji County (now Shengzhou and Xinchang in Shaoxing), one named Liu Chen and the other named Ruanzhao, who agreed to go to Tiantai Mountain to collect herbs. A few days into the mountain, the two gradually lost their way and the food they brought was running out. The two young people are in a desperate situation. At this time, two exquisite meals filled with lotus leaves suddenly floated down from the stream. They were ecstatic. After using it, they swam back along the stream and looked for someone in the mountains. After a short walk, they saw two beautiful women laughing at the roadside and immediately shouted, "The two husbands are really late." Liu and Ruan were invited to the woman's home, only to find that their home is magnificent, with copper houses, blue tiles and remote buildings, just like a fairyland. That night, the two fairies spent the night with Liu and Ruan and lived a carefree life in the mountains. This is actually a fairy-like love. However, more than two months later, Liu and Ruan were homesick and wanted to say goodbye to the two fairies. The two women were reluctant to go, but they couldn't stop them and sent them away. After Liu and Ruan returned to their hometown, everything in the village changed and there were no people they knew. When I asked, I realized that the world had passed VII, and now it was the first year of the Eastern Jin Dynasty. Even so, the two had to stay in the village. Life is so dull, Liu and Ruan understand more and more that they met a fairy in the mountains. The two men missed the fairy more and more strongly, so they went to Tiantai Mountain to look for it, but they couldn't find it. They searched for many years, searched again and again, and knew they couldn't find it. So Liu Chen went to live in seclusion at the foot of Tianmu Mountain. It is said that he finally married a concubine and gave birth to a child, which has been passed down to this day. Ruan Zhao sees through the world of mortals and travels around, not knowing where to go. This story touched the later literati, and there was an epigraph called Ruan Langgui, which came from Ruan Zhao's story.

Let's read the word Zhou Bangyan carefully again. Although the first sentence says "Taoxi", it is more like the poet's own experience when we read it through. The poet only uses this fairy-like love as a kind of exhilaration to describe his similar love experience and express his loneliness and regret when he revisits his hometown after parting from his lover.
"Taoxi is not calm, and autumn lotus root will never come." The first two paragraphs make it very clear that the poet himself had a love story similar to Xianfan. Perhaps it is a woman who is unforgettable like a fairy, or a woman who lives like a fairy in Taoxi, or perhaps the most important thing is this woman, who loves him just like two Taoxi fairies treat Liu Lang and Ruanlang. I just didn't know how to cherish it and left her easily. Now, I understand her deep feelings at that time, and I want to renew my friendship with her, but like the lotus root in the autumn pond, it can't continue if it is broken. Here, the poet uses the idiom "broken knot" instead, and uses artistic words to express a painful experience in the love world with ordinary words, which not only summarizes a universal love experience, but also pours out his inner pain.
"At that time, I was waiting for Chilan Bridge. Today I am looking for Huangye Road alone." These two sentences are the two most contrasting sentences in ancient and modern times. Many scholars in later generations believe that "Chilan Bridge" and "Huangye Road" in these two sentences are the same place, and both refer to the women's residence of that day, but the seasons and emotional States of "waiting for each other at that time" and "looking for it alone today" are different. Just like Liu Lang and Ruanlang went to Tiantai Mountain twice, the mountain was still the same. At first sight, it was warm and beautiful, but when they went again, they were lost and disappointed. At that time, she waited for me on the red bridge in front of her house, warm and sweet; At the moment, I am wandering alone on the path by the river, with yellow leaves all over the ground, lonely and sad.
