Characteristics of vanilla

First, the top of the five spices: Aquilaria Resinatum, Musk, Sandalwood and Long Xianxiang are recognized as the four top spices, while Li Xiang (grass) is the fifth fragrance that is little known, but it is the top of the five spices. The reason why it is the first of the five spices is not that its fragrance obviously exceeds the other four spices, but that its fragrance is not easy to be smelled by ordinary people. At first glance, the fragrance of ordinary people is unremarkable, but as long as you calm down, or in the dead of night, or in rainy days, its fragrance will be faint and reach deep inside, so that people who are far away from home and running around will inevitably miss their hometown and their loved ones deeply, which is also the real connotation of leaving vanilla.

2. Away from the homeland, its fragrance is stronger: the farther away from the homeland of Shouzhou, the stronger its fragrance, and the more fragrant it is when it rains. Legend has it that it is because you are homesick when you leave your hometown, and it is also the real reason why you are called Xiangcao.

Third, ward off evil spirits and prevent diseases: Shouzhou people have always had the folk custom of cutting hay from herbs and sewing various sachets, which are used to hang on doors to ward off evil spirits, and also hung on children's chests or travel bags to attract money, prevent diseases and exorcise evil spirits.

Fourth, Shouzhou Huenji was not fragrant when planted: Shouzhou people once planted vanilla outside Huenji. Although it has grown out, the stem has changed from empty to solid, and there is no fragrance at all. Experts from Taiwan Province Province and Japan also tried and failed. The local people say that vanilla grows under the protection of Hongzhi Buddhism, so it is not fragrant when planted far away from here.
