The poem "Lonely smoke in the desert, long river setting the yen" is hard to say. Wang Wei may have been to the frontier fortress, or he may have seen similar scenes. It is a highly artistic summary of this kind of scenery. If so, it is summed up from the real scene, which is both realistic and meaningful. It is also possible that he has never been to the desert, but he has heard of the scenery there. We know that Wang Wei's paintings and Rainbow's poems have a great influence on later generations. It is very simple for a painter to write out what is in a painting, and so is painting a poem. Therefore, it is difficult for Wang Wei to judge that poetry and painting are all human beings, but even if there are real writing elements, it is inseparable from the writer's high artistic summary. At least it is freehand brushwork.
