Gong Sundaniang's Sword Dance Poems

Jinyangmen Poems of Qin Shihuang in Late Tang Dynasty

A few years ago, there was a beautiful Gongsun who danced her dagger from all directions.

The audience is like a mountain lost between them, and the world moves back and forth with her movements.

It's like shooting for nine days, as fast as an angel in front of the dragon's wings.

She began to be like a thunderbolt, venting its anger and ending the shining calm like rivers and seas.

But those red lips and pearl sleeves disappeared, and no one except this student smelled of her fame.

This beautiful woman from Linying, White God Town, still dances and sings happily.

When we answer each other's questions, we sigh together and feel sad for the changes that have taken place.

There are 8,000 ladies-in-waiting in the harem, but none of them can dance short sword like Mrs. Sun.

Fifty years have passed, like the rotation of a palm, wind and dust filled the world and covered the imperial house.

The disciples in the pear garden dispersed like smoke, and one or two female musicians were trying to charm the cold sun.

There are also people who are big and burly next to the tomb of the Golden Emperor, and the Tang Shicheng, which is bleak and bleak.

The song has been sung, the slow-string allegro has stopped, the joy is in full swing, the moon in the east rises, and the sadness follows.

And I, a poor old man, don't know where to go. I must sharpen my feet towards illness and despair on a lonely mountain.

Translation:

A few years ago, there was a beautiful Gongsun who danced her dagger from all directions. The audience is like a mountain lost between them, and the world moves back and forth with her movements. So, it's like shooting for nine days, flying like an angel in front of the dragon's wings; She began to be like a thunderbolt, venting its anger and ending the shining calm like rivers and seas.

The south wood of the golden millet pile has been arched, and I seem to hear the hay rattling on the cliff of Qutang. The song has been sung, the slow-string allegro has stopped, the joy is in full swing, the moon in the east rises, and the sadness follows. And I, a poor old man, don't know where to go. I must sharpen my feet towards illness and despair on a lonely mountain.

From the Northern Zhou Dynasty, music and dance in the western regions were gradually introduced to China, and were absorbed by the court in the early and prosperous Tang Dynasty, reaching its peak in Xuanzong of Tang Dynasty. Du Fu saw Gong Sundaniang's "Sword Dance" in the Kaiyuan era, and his dancing was very wonderful.

Fifty years later (in 767, the second year of Dali), I met her disciple Li Shiniang, watched her dance and listened to the music, so I wrote this poem recalling Gong Sundaniang's swordsmanship, which not only praised Gong Sundaniang's exquisite dancing skills, but also evoked the poet's nostalgia for the prosperous Tang Dynasty, which made him think deeply and deeply.

This poem only uses two rhymes, the former rhyme * * * 14 sentence, which describes Gong Sundaniang's superb dancing skills and later biography. Gongsun's dancing skills are written from different angles, such as the audience's gloomy expression, the feeling of "heaven and earth going back and forth, moving with it", the vision of "like nine days' death, the dragon wing is like an angel's disease", the hearing of "she started like a thunderbolt, venting her anger" and the vision of "just like the green light of the river and the sea", which is full of three-dimensional sense and vividly reproduces Gong Sundaniang's wonderful performance.

For her disciples, it was handled hastily, which not only avoided duplication, but also highlighted the key points. This is the poet's original intention. Gongsun's dancing is consistent with the prosperous Tang Dynasty.

This is the reason why the poet gives the most praise, aiming at remembering the prosperous Tang Dynasty and hoping to revive this grand occasion, and thus turning to writing about feelings and worries. In the next rhyme, * * * 12 sentences, write Gongsun Jianfa from "the first day of the pear garden" to "Yuzi reflecting the cold weather", ending with "the song ends and people disperse".

On the one hand, Fifty Years is a piece of cake in the Tang Dynasty and firewood has been arched by Xuanzong are described alternately, reflecting each other, and recalling the past and the present overflows between the lines, so that the poet doesn't know what to do after the dance, but he is in a hurry.

The last two sentences are similar to those in his poem "Ai Jiang Tou", that is, "Go to Tatar, at dusk, the town is dusty, and I flee to the south, but look to the throne in the north". In this regard, Zhu Qiu said: "The calluses are terminal, and they are too ill, so don't worry. I can't bear to go. " Pu Qilong commented: "At this point, there are two so-called dilemmas, the intersection of all sides and the end of the world."
