"Only peony is the real national color, and the capital moves when flowers bloom" comes from Liu Yuxi. This poem is from "Appreciating Peony" by Liu Yuxi, a poet in the Tang Dynasty. Liu Yuxi (772-842), born in Pengcheng (now Xuzhou) of China in the Tang Dynasty, was a writer and philosopher in the Tang Dynasty, claiming to be a descendant of the King of Mountain Scenery in Hanzhong.
