Interpretation of Lu You's Seven Sections of Wan Li Guanhe Classic

Wan Li mountains and rivers have been separated from our old friends for too long.

This sentence comes from Qiu Si, a seven-character poem written by Lu You, a poet in the Song Dynasty.

The original text is as follows:

The cold of early spring came from the array, and the bald head fell ill and lived in Jianggan.

The leaves in the wind forest are thin and the frost is beige.

Wan Li Guan River is full of surprises, and a neighboring song talks about joys and sorrows.

Scholars starve to death and can't find anything in common, so they have to play again.

Vernacular translation:

As Yan Zhen struggled to fly south, it also brought a chill. It's cold, and the white-haired old man living by the river can't help feeling something. It is still an ink painting. The cold wind blew the forest, the leaves fell, and the bare mountain lost a lot of weight. The late rice has been harvested. As a result, the fields are much more empty, and the mountains and rivers are Wan Li. We have been separated from our old friends for too long.

Now you can only drink with your neighbors. Wang Ji and Gong Yu are very good friends. Gong Yu was dismissed many times, and Wang Ji was frustrated in officialdom. During the Han and Yuan Dynasties, Wang Ji was called an admonition officer. Gong Yu was very happy to hear the news, so he took out his official hat, dusted it off and prepared to put it on. Sure enough, it wasn't long before Gong Yu was appointed as a consultant doctor.
