Anxiety and worry

Anxiety and worry

Dai wangshu

It is said that it is the sorrow of lonely autumn.

They all say it's acacia in the far sea.

If someone asks me what I'm worried about,

I dare not say your name.

I dare not say your name,

If someone asks me about my concerns.

They all say it's acacia in the far sea.

It is said to be the sadness of lonely autumn.

This poem has two paragraphs, but actually there are only four paragraphs, but in the first paragraph and the second paragraph, the order of the four paragraphs is opposite. In this inverted repetition, it not only strengthens the theme of poetry, but also forms a reciprocating musical effect. This is the outstanding feature of the first aspect of this poem.

What are the themes of the four poems? The author has no direct explanation. The first two sentences of the first paragraph are metaphors, but both sentences omit the noumenon "worry". If the expression is complete, the meaning of the first two sentences is probably: some people think that trouble is like the sadness of lonely autumn, while others think that trouble is like the acacia between people separated by the sea. The first two sentences put pen to paper in time, and the last one put pen to paper in space, which implies the depth and breadth of "worry" and "thinking" And what is the specific connotation of this "worry" and "thinking"? The last two sentences give specific answers: the author's "worry" and "thinking" are caused by his "worry" in his heart, and the reason for "worry" is the reason of "dare not say your name" and "dare not say your name". Regardless of life experience, readers can naturally understand that "dare not say" is because there is love in their hearts: they are full of love for you, but they have no courage to say it.

The lyric order of the last paragraph is to describe the forms of "worry" and "thinking" first, and then analyze the reasons step by step; In the second paragraph, I first explain my hesitation and timidity in the face of "you", and then point out that such "dare" makes me feel "worried". From the perspective of time and space, the last two sentences set off my "lovesickness" and "relieving my worries" as far away as facing each other across the sea, as lonely as being in a cold autumn. The choice of images is typical, which coincides with the classical aesthetics in China's cultural tradition. Autumn is used to set off sadness and the sea to describe the distance of thinking. Although it is modern poetry, it is full of artistic conception and charm of classical poetry. Therefore, although the first and second paragraphs are only different in the order of the same poem, there is no suspicion of repetition in emotional expression, which is the genius of the author.

This is a love poem, but the word "love" never appears directly in the whole poem, but is euphemistically expressed by "dare not say your name". Implicit beauty is another outstanding feature of this little poem.

Dai Wangshu is an expert in writing love poems, and his lyric poem Rain Lane has established his immortal position in modern poetry circles in China. Compared with Rain Lane, this little poem about love has no difference in content and theme, but it shows great charm and originality in artistic techniques.

Appreciation of masterpieces

In the history of China literature, the poet Dai Wangshu is undoubtedly a unique existence. He wrote a small number of poems (but more than 100), but he occupied an important position in the poetry world; He has no systematic poetics, but his Zero Zagreb Poetics and Wang Shu Poetics compiled by his friend Du Heng are very valuable. He appeared as a modernist in poetry, but at the end of his life, he wrote a real chapter soaked with blood and tears.

In the history of new poetry, Dai Wangshu has his own position, but his position is not very high.

Around the May 4th Movement, the torrent of science and democracy awakened generations of intellectuals. The fierce contradiction between the beautiful ideal and the dark reality hangs over their sensitive hearts. The sense of social mission of "knowing what you can't do" has enveloped a huge "worry" group. From the real world to poetry, Dai Wangshu is one of the most loyal worriers in the world. He wrote many poems that bothered people. This outstanding poem "Worry" made a concentrated observation and description of the mentality and spirit of this group.

This poem comes from Dai Wangshu's collection of poems, Wang Shucao. As an important poet of Modernism, an important school of China poetry in 1930s, Dai Wangshu's poems focus on describing the spiritual track of modern people's life perception and emotional experience. In the journey of life, there are sunny euphoria and excitement, as well as rainy distress and worry. So, what are the worries that are smouldering in the poet's mind at the moment? The poet didn't show it directly.

Clear autumn is a season that people yearn for, and the sea is full of endless lovesickness, which makes people sad to read. Coupled with "loneliness" and "remoteness", the poet's lonely and helpless lovesickness is more profound and detailed, and a feeling of "heartbroken people in the end of the world" arises spontaneously. However, in this sad and lonely time, it occurred to the author that someone came to ask you about your troubles and your worries. What would you say at this moment? Do you want to come clean, tell each other all your worries, or keep it a secret? Although you have the freedom to choose, but you are asked by a caring friend, can you play dumb? So, how to express this embarrassing psychology? "I dare not say your name." The word "dare not" really expresses the author's contradictory mentality and leads readers to endless reverie. The above four sentences, just 36 words, vividly depict the author's deep nostalgia, fierce struggle, the taste of "wanting to say goodbye" and the unforgettable acacia, which is both meaningful and emotional.

The following four sentences, the above four sentences are reversed. They are rough and seemingly palindrome poems, but when you think about it, they are not simple repetitions, nor are they mysterious as postures. Instead, it is the author's endless and increasingly surging yearning, which is the catharsis of addiction. The first sentence is like repetition and truth, and contact and concern are impenetrable. Although it is a fierce and contradictory "dare not say". But the hope of expressing feelings is so urgent. Here, the author provides us with a broad imagination space, and you might as well have a perceptual fugue here. The whole poem ends with "clearing the sorrow", but it properly expresses the unusual way for mature thinkers to express their complex mentality with the saying "good autumn and good cool air"

The whole poem consists of two groups of eight sentences, which are symmetrically arranged, orderly in form and harmonious in syllables. This is the result that the author is deeply influenced by China's traditional cultural metrical poems. The rhyme of the first four sentences sets an opportunity for the repetition of the last four sentences, so it is catchy to read and gives people a pleasant feeling of leaving fragrance on their teeth and cheeks.
