What are the stories about Yang Yuhuan?

Du Fu, a famous poet in Tang Dynasty, is famous for his poems. He wrote such a five-character quatrain: recalling the past, the envoys of the South China Sea rushed to offer lychees. A hundred horses died in the valley, and now they are old and sad.

This poem describes the events in the Eastern Han Dynasty. During the Han Dynasty and the reign of the emperor, longan and litchi were transported from the South China Sea to Luoyang, the capital, by post horses. Horses are transported day and night, and the people are exhausted or poisoned by tigers and wolves, and the dead are endless. Later, local officials kept writing letters and stating why the emperor was forced to order it to stop. Du Fu wrote this poem, of course, not simply chanting history, but alluding to reality. In this regard, another poem by Du Mu wrote bluntly: Chang 'an looks back and embroiders in piles, and the top of the mountain opens a thousand times. As soon as I rode on the smile of smoke and smoke, no one knew that the fresh fruit litchi was sent from the south.

It turned out that Yang Yuhuan, the imperial concubine of Li Longji in the Tang Dynasty, especially liked to eat fresh litchi. In order to please the beauty, Xuanzong ordered fresh litchi to be mailed from Lingnan (Sichuan). In order to keep litchi fresh, the stations along the way are non-stop, and the dust on the road is rolling, which makes people mistakenly think that an emergency military situation is coming! At that time, Xuanzong built a palace in Lishan, about 80 miles from Chang 'an, and often lived there with Yang Guifei. Du Mu's poem describes Yima transporting litchi from Chang 'an to Lishan Palace.

Here, as a national military and political exchange, it has become a tool for emperors and members of the royal family to pursue extravagant life. The debauchery of the feudal royal family can be seen from this. Of course, it can also be seen from this incident that the efficiency of post-transmission in the Tang Dynasty is very high. It effectively ensured that the troops of the Tang Dynasty would quickly transmit their military information in the future, and played a very important role in finally putting down the rebellion.

Interestingly, Yang Guifei, who was used to eating litchi sent by the post, finally died on the post road. After the Anshi Rebellion broke out, Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty fled Chang 'an with Yang Yuhuan and settled in Ant Post Station (now Xingping City, Shaanxi Province).

The next day, Ye Bian, an escort soldier, demanded the execution of Yang (Yang Yuhuan's cousin), who brought disaster to the country and people. Worried about Yang Yuhuan's revenge, he asked Xuanzong to die with her, otherwise he wouldn't move forward. In this way, this peerless beauty who can pour the national color disappeared in Maweipo.
