Attach a short story:
When Su Dongpo was in Huangzhou, one day Shi Hang came and wrote a poem praising Buddha:
On the first day, the sky was clear;
Eight winds can't blow, sitting on the purple lotus.
This is a poem with high artistic conception. It is absolutely impossible to write such a good poem without considerable Buddhist attainments. Su Dongpo wrote this poem and recited it repeatedly by himself. I feel very satisfied! At this moment, he thought of his good friend Fo Yin, the Zen master. He thought that if the Zen master saw this poem, he would be greatly appreciative and even amazed. So he immediately copied the poem on the poem pad, sealed it with an envelope, and sent it to Guizong Temple on the south bank of the Yangtze River for the Zen master in Fo Yin.
Huangzhou is on the north bank of the Yangtze River. If you want to go to Guizong Temple on the other side, you must cross the river. Now, let's study the content of this poem when Su Dongpo's servant crossed the river by boat:
"kowtow" means to show respect; "The sky is in the sky" means that the sky is respected, and the Buddha is more respected by the sky, so the Buddha is called "the sky in the sky".
"A thousand lights shine on a thousand worlds" means that the Buddha's compassion and moral light shine all over the world. A solar system has many planets, forming a small world; One thousand small worlds, one Hanazono Sakura world; A thousand Hanazono Sakura worlds are combined into a thousand worlds; A thousand worlds are combined into one world.
"Eight Winds Can't Blow" is a beautiful and moving poem, which is also the center of the whole poem and the most important. "Eight Winds" refers to weighing, mocking, destroying, reputation, interests, decline, and bitterness; "Great Wisdom" said: "Profit, decline, ruin, reputation, fame, ridicule, suffering and pleasure; Obedience and disobedience can stimulate animal feelings. " These eight kinds are the sum of success or failure in life. Praise, fame and fortune, and all kinds of happy enjoyment will make everyone intoxicated; Ordinary people, every time these wonderful times and fun, will feel uncomfortable! At the mention of ridicule and slander, I get angry; It is human nature to worry about adversity. However, there was one person who did not move in the eight winds. Who is this man? It's Buddha.
"Sitting on the purple lotus" means that the Buddha has exhausted all doubts and all virtues are ready, so he can sit solemnly and safely on the lotus platform without being shaken by the outside world.
This poem praises the Buddha, but it also implies that the author has a transcendental realm: he can be like the Buddha, and has reached the point where the mind can change things instead of things. -Su Dongpo is indeed an extremely clever man.
At this time, the servant went ashore, and he chased him to the Guizong Hall in Lushan Mountain.
When Fo Yin Jackson read Su Dongpo's poems, he didn't praise them as much as Su Dongpo expected, or was surprised. Instead, I felt it necessary to give him a blow. So he wrote "fart" at the bottom of the poem and gave it to the servant to take back to Huangzhou.
In Su Dongpo, Huangzhou, since the servant went, he has been waiting smugly. He thought that when Master Fo Yin saw this poem, he would appreciate it very much, so he waited for the good news wholeheartedly and finally waited for the servant to come back. He couldn't wait to ask, "What did Master say when he read it?" The servant said, "He didn't say anything? Just write a few words on your poem and let me take them back. I don't know what to write. " The servant said, handing the poem letter to Su Dongpo; Su Dongpo opened the envelope and took out the poem. When he saw the word "fart" written at the bottom of the poem, he couldn't help but raise three thousands of feet without fire and flew into a rage! Shouting "How dare you?" He examined his poems carefully again, but found no mistakes. He blamed Zen master Fo Yin for saying to himself, "You don't know how to appreciate my good poem, but you think it's fart. You are so confused! " So, he decided to judge with Zen master Fo Yin himself, and immediately hired a boat to cross the river to Guizong Temple in Lushan Mountain.
Su Dongpo's boat went south, and he sat on it. Although the breeze is blowing gently on the river at the moment, his heart is like an ant on hot bricks, and he has no mood when he visited Chibi last time, singing the famous sentence "The breeze is Xu Lai, and the waves are quiet." .
Su Dongpo chased Lushan Guizong Temple and angrily wanted to get even with Fo Yin Zen Master. The Zen master has told the guest room, "There are no guests today." Su Dongpo added fuel to the fire. I can't stand it anymore! Whether he likes it or not, he ran into the abbot's room of Fo Yin Jackson in three steps and two steps. He looked at the abbot's door and was about to knock when he suddenly found a note posted on the door, which read:
Eight winds can't blow,
Bullshit, Jiang Lai.
When Su Dongpo saw these two sentences, he immediately became alert and secretly cried, "I was wrong!" "
Everybody! What's wrong with Su Dongpo? Zen master Fo Yin's words clearly warned him: "You said that you can't be moved by all kinds of ridicule and fame, but why do you get angry just because of a word' fart' and let Jiang Lai and I judge?" At this time, Su Dongpo was deeply ashamed and lamented that he always only wanted to understand Buddhism and lacked real practice. Therefore, when the realm is present, he is no different from ordinary people. It is really "impossible" to learn Buddhist theory without practicing! So he immediately made up his mind to put his understanding of Buddhism into practice in his daily life. At the same time, he was deeply grateful for the inspiration given to him by Zen master Fo Yin. He thinks that having such a friend is a great blessing in life! After that, he believed in Jackson Fo Yin even more.
