Introduction of scenic spots

Shaxi used to be an important post station on the ancient tea-horse road. With the decline of the ancient tea-horse road, it was gradually forgotten. But in this way, the current Shaxi is more quiet and quaint, and it also better preserves the style of the ancient town of Chama. There is a saying in northwest Yunnan: Walk through Lijiang, Dali, and don't miss Shaxi.

Walk past Yujin Bridge, an ancient stone bridge beside the Heihui River. Go along the ancient road for about 100 meters, and you will reach Dongzhaimen, which the villagers call "Jiezimen". This Zhaimen is made of adobe, and only two horses can pass through it at the same time, retaining the original appearance of Zhaimen on the ancient tea-horse road. Further inside, you will reach the Fourth Street, which is the only surviving market on the ancient tea-horse road and the center of Shaxi ancient town. The whole street is paved with red sandstone slabs, and there is an ancient stage facing east and Xingjiao Temple facing east in the east. The two echo each other from afar, dividing Sifang Street into two parts, with shops and horse shops all over the streets, and three Gu Xiang extending to all directions of the ancient town.

Xingjiao Temple is a major attraction in Shaxi. It is the only remaining Bai Buddhist temple in China in the Ming Dynasty. The murals and sculptures inside are worth savoring. You can visit for free by registering your ID card. On national festivals, the sons and daughters of the Bai nationality in the town wear festive costumes, play the leading three strings, gather in Sifang Street and sing and dance on the stage. Sifang Street is crowded with people, and Xingjiao Temple is full of joy and good luck. Among them, every year when the prince meets on February 8 in the lunar calendar, it is even more lively.

Shaxi ancient town is small and can be visited in an hour or two. However, if you have enough time, it is recommended to stay here for one night, visit the old streets and enjoy the quiet and comfort that Dali ancient town does not have. There are youth hostels and various inns in the ancient town, and the prices are relatively affordable. Roadside shops can solve the problem of dining, and there are local specialties such as ginseng seeds, pine mushrooms and milk cakes to choose from.
