“Don’t envy the peaches and plums in three springs, the sweet-scented osmanthus blooms in autumn.” This is a poem by Liu Yuxi in the Tang Dynasty about sweet-scented osmanthus.
The three springs refer to the spring months of Mengchun, Zhongchun, and Jichun. The ancients used to call the three springs the first month of the lunar calendar as Mengchun, February as Zhongchun, and March as Jichun, collectively known as the "Three Spring". Therefore, the "three springs" mentioned in some poems actually mean that in spring, don't envy the peach and plum flowers in spring. In autumn, when the sweet-scented osmanthus grows, it will be more prosperous.
