Li Jue can't read, why is he favored by Yongzheng?

Tian Wenjing, Li Wei and E Ertai were the three most favored ministers in Yongzheng Dynasty. Yongzheng often said that they were "model princes", but strangely, the relationship between them was not harmonious, especially Li Jue and Tian Wenjing. Anecdotal stories in the Qing Dynasty said that when Tian Wenjing was the governor of Henan, he was jealous of Li Wei, the governor of Zhejiang, and spoke ill of the latter secretly in front of Yongzheng, who was unmoved. Tian Wenjing refused to sell the slander and turned to curry favor with it. It once coincided with the death of Li Wei's mother. Tian Wenjing sent condolences and gave him a generous gift. Unexpectedly, Li Wei cursed: "Although my mother died, she didn't drink a spoonful of villain's water!" Later, Special Envoy Tian Wenjing was blocked from the door and the gift was thrown into the pigsty to show contempt.

Li Jue's criticism of Tian Wenjing is unprecedented in the official history, but in the seventh year of Yongzheng, Tian Wenjing did comment on Li Jue in a memorial, saying that the latter was "honest and clean" and a "contemporary saint", but this person was "careless in controlling officials" and was good at fooling around. As a big current, he has some inferiority complex. Yongzheng expressed deep appreciation for this evaluation and hoped that the three of them could learn from each other's strong points and become one.

Li Wei, an official who was also born in the wrong direction, has a contradictory contempt for Tian Wenjing. Culturally, Li Yong is only worse than Tian Wenjing; In terms of age, Tian Wenjing was basically older than Li Wei in the last round; In terms of experience and ability, Li Wei may not be better than Tian Wenjing. So, probably only Tian Wenjing's harsh style makes Li Wei feel uncomfortable.

A few years ago, the TV series "Official Li Wei" was a smash hit. Li Wei, played by the famous actor Xu zhēng, is very humorous and deeply loved by the public. However, TV series is a TV series after all, and so is Li Wei in history (Xu zhēng also said that he didn't know what Li Wei was like in history, and the director also admitted that Li Wei was "illiterate, a slave of Grandpa Four, who loved riding horses and collecting gadgets").

Li Wei, a native of Tongshan, Jiangsu Province, was born in the 26th year of Kangxi. As far as his family background is concerned, he is a rich boy. By descent, he is also a Guo-zi-jian diploma, donated. At the age of 30, Li Wei donated a foreign minister of the Ministry of War, and two years later, he donated a doctor in the Ministry of Housing. Probably because his family was rich since childhood, Li Wei didn't get infected with the old bad rules at all. For example, in "Collected Works of Kokura Mountain House", when Li Wei was managing the treasury affairs in the housing department, there was a prince in charge who asked for a flat payment of 120 yuan for every money and grain he received. Li Wei remonstrated with the Prince many times, but the Prince did not listen. The latter then put a cupboard outside the library, which read "One Sheng Wang" and caused a sensation at the moment. The prince was so embarrassed when he saw it that he had to order it to stop.

The so-called "surplus" is actually a bad rule. This kind of thing is unacceptable on the table, but it has certain rationality. Because of the lack of office funds at that time, clerks also had subsidies such as meals and money, otherwise business was difficult to do, and it became a certain rule over time. The prince's action is not necessarily for personal benefit, but for the benefit of all employees, sharing the fat with everyone. However, no matter how much money Li Wei has, if he says he can't accept it, he can't accept it, even if he has offended powerful people.

It is precisely because of this courageous and resourceful character that Li was discovered by Yongzheng and promoted and reused after he ascended the throne. In the first year of Yongzheng, Li Jue was awarded the zhili postal route, but before he took office, he changed it to Yunnan salt postal route. After Li Wei took office, he washed away the local salt affairs and got to the bottom of what he saw, heard and thought in Yunnan. In this regard, Yongzheng appreciated it very much. The following year, he was promoted to Yunnan ambassador, still in charge of salt affairs and copper factory (casting money). Yongzheng also instructed: "I am loyal, dedicated and diligent, and I know it well. See how much discount, it's all blood, no scruples. And the analysis of money, in good order, is very commendable, and will not bear me some knowledge! Respect this! "

In the third year of Yongzheng, Li Wei was promoted to the governor of Zhejiang and was in charge of salt administration in Zhejiang. After Li Jue took office, he actively carried out the "reclamation" reform, cleared up the accumulated debts and built seawalls, and achieved remarkable results. In salt affairs, Li Jue stepped up efforts to crack down on salt smuggling on the one hand, and promoted salt policy reform on the other. "Anyone who gives Ding Tan in various fields will receive an acre; If you don't give it to Ding Tan, you will lose your job temporarily. " In this way, it not only stabilized the salt production, but also increased the salt tax revenue, which made Yongzheng feel very satisfied. Li Wei was later appointed Governor of Zhejiang Province in by going up one flight of stairs. Li Yu at this time, just in his early forties, is walking on thin ice compared with Hotan Wenjing and E Ertai.

Some people say that Li Yue is getting bigger and bigger. What can you do without culture? This is also a problem. Li Wei was born into a noble family. My ancestors started with military exploits in the early Ming Dynasty and later became royalty. Probably because of his family style, Li Wei was also a martial artist since he was a child, and his education level was not very good. In his own words, it is: "I am a lonely dropout, unfamiliar with chapters and sentences, and I obey my mother's orders." I can only talk about Tongjian and know what the ancients did. "

There is a wonderful plot in the TV series Yongzheng Dynasty, which tells that Li Jue ordered people to write notices. Everyone asked, "Do adults want seven-character poems or four or six parallel essays?" Li Wei said, "Never mind so much. I'll read it and you write it." They all said, "OK, OK." Li Wei said, "You all heard it." They stared at Li Wei, holding pens and so on. Li Wei said, "Stupid! Write! Why not write? " Everyone looked at me, and I looked at you and said, "My Lord, you haven't studied yet." Li Wei said, "Why didn't you read it? I have just read it. You all heard me. ..... write! Write! " Everyone was still wondering. A slightly clever man asked, "My Lord, did you write that sentence' You all heard it'?" Li Wei said, "Yes!" Everyone suddenly realized: "Oh ... OK, write ..."

As the head of a province, the first sentence of the notice was the vernacular: "You all heard it", which really made people laugh at that time. But then again, Li Wei's thinking is very clear. After his master drafted the official document and read it to him, he always hit the nail on the head, and then dictated the problematic places to the master for revision, and everyone was convinced. In the trial of Tang Sheng, Li Wei is more resourceful, and the trial is like running water, which shows his extraordinary wit. In addition, Li Wei's work is very organized. He has meetings or posts on weekdays, and all affairs are recorded. All orders and letters will be filed after completion and can be found afterwards.

Although Li Wei can't read, he attaches great importance to literati and cultural undertakings. When he went to work in Zhejiang, because of the involvement of Wang and Justine, Zhejiang was suspended from taking the final exam, which was a great blow to the scholars in this province. In order to resume the exam as soon as possible, Li Jue often went deep into the lower classes to understand the voices of the scribes, turning the possible literary prison into an immature literary prison, while some good deeds were recorded in the files and reported at any time. With its efforts, Zhejiang resumed the provincial examination and general examination in the seventh year of Yongzheng, and then all three places of Zhejiang scribes were won in palace examination. In addition, Li Wei founded Baoding Lianchi Academy when he was governor of Zhili, which has been an academic center in the north for more than a hundred years.

Reading more is a good thing, but sometimes reading less is not necessarily a bad thing. For example, when Li Jue was an official, he lost many books. He is flexible and pragmatic, which suits Yongzheng's taste. For example, Li Wei catches thieves. In the sixth year of Yongzheng, because there were many thieves in the south of the Yangtze River, the local officials were "not enough to crack down on thieves". Yongzheng appointed Li Weitong to be responsible for the theft of seven houses in five states in the south of the Yangtze River, "to control officials" and later presented a poem, two of which were called "training various resources to compile patrols to help the people". Li Wei worked very hard after receiving the order. "Stealing mountains and rivers, we look for its traces and send officials to arrest and cure it, so we must stop it, so there is no thief in its department." This matter has to be mentioned in the martial arts book "Xia Gan Phoenix Pool", and some people say that there are various legends about the assassination of Lv Siniang, the female apprentice of "Xia Gan". I don't know who Lv Siniang is, but there is a man named Gan Fengchi in history. It was Li Wei who arrested him. According to official records, Xia Gan doesn't seem to show any heroism. But under the temptation of Li Wei, he kowtowed for mercy and betrayed his comrades. Afterwards, Gan Fengchi and others were executed.

About likui jy's martial arts, other note novels also have evidence. For example, in The Collected Works of Kokura Mountain Residence, it is said that Li Weilai is burly, with a big waist and strong arms, and looks like a samurai (very different from the image played by Xu zhēng). Walking in the street is also easy to recognize, because Li Wei's face is as big as a washbasin and his nostrils are smooth, which is different from ordinary people. However, although Li Wei has a military figure and a white face, it is a pity that he has a pockmarked face. Li Wei likes practicing martial arts since childhood, and enjoys listening to stories in his spare time. Every time he meets an injustice, he often sobs and resents, and even draws his sword. After he became an official, he once raised a Yong Jian camp to practice fighting skills. Every time he goes out to catch thieves, Li Jue takes Yongjianying with him. He wears golden armor and holds iron bars and enjoys himself. But Yongzheng was quite disdainful of his martial arts. On one occasion, Li Wei volunteered to go to the northwest battlefield to kill the enemy. Yongzheng disdainfully said, you are not the material, don't worry.

In Yongzheng's eyes, Li Jue has many advantages, but it is not without shortcomings. After he took office in Yanshi Road, Yunnan, the first memorial line was just put on, and Yongzheng instructed that you are eager to serve in the spirit of "young and sharp", so you must be modest and cautious when you go to the place, and you must not bully others. For example, if you are too strong among the boss's current friends, you will inevitably "ridicule your goodness." Sure enough, when Li Jue took office in Yunnan, he was at odds with Zhang Qian, the provincial judge. Later, he and the company commander Shi of Weining, Guizhou participated in each other and fought endlessly. Besides, Li Wei has no respect for his boss. He privately called Gao Qizhuo, governor of Yunnan Province "Lao Gao" and Yang, governor of Yunnan Province "". What's more, Li Wei openly wrote the word "Qin Yong" on his deacon's sign, and even accepted a gift from a businessman. To this end, Yongzheng specifically issued a decree criticizing that after you arrived in Yunnan, "you can indulge yourself and your integrity is not pure." "You should behave yourself and make a Qin Yong card. Is it impossible for a villain to show his ambition? " Be careful, don't be careless! "Li Jue was not convinced after listening, and argued:" You should not avoid resentment when you are in debt. Yongzheng retorted that "no suspicion, no resentment" and "bullying, arrogance and rudeness" are two different ways. You should strengthen your self-cultivation, so that you can go wider and farther in the future and live up to my expectations of you.

However, the teaching of Yongzheng did not seem to play much role in front of Li Yu. After taking office in Zhejiang, every time Li Wei went out, the drums and music were everywhere, crowding round, which attracted people to watch. What's more, every time Li Jue impeached someone, he proudly copied a piece of paper for the impeacher to show "openness and justice". In this way, Yongzheng gave tolerance and said, "Li is rude and arrogant, and everyone knows it. Why bother?" I regard it as honesty and courage. In order to protect my eyes and follow the rules, I regard the national government as a wind outside the film. "

Li Wei's stubbornness makes his men stubborn. According to unofficial history's records, Li Jue once asked a servant named Tian Fang to write down the letter and asked the emperor to seal his family for five generations. Tian Fang refused to write, saying, "If I ask to seal the code for three generations, I can't write. I have never heard of the five generations. " Li Wei said, "Never mind, just write." . Tian Fang still refused to write, which angered likui jy and scolded him: "If you want to write, write. There is no precedent. I will set a precedent. What is it to you? " Tian Fang also said angrily, "my Lord, you are crazy. You ignored the imperial court because the emperor loved you for a while. I kindly advised you, but you didn't thank me and even scolded me! I just refuse to accept it! Not satisfied! " Likui jy said, "What can I do if I refuse to accept it?" Tian Fang said, "You are an adult and I am a minor official. Even if you kill me, there is nothing I can do! It's a pity that the power of adults can be imposed on villains, but the reason of small officials is almost equal to that of adults! " Li Wei was stunned by him, and there was no sound for a long time. Then he smiled and said, "Your boy is a little timid. It's a pity to be a small official. Why don't I lend you some money, buy a county magistrate and be an official, like you are today, be an honest official and do a good job. " Later, he became the magistrate of Cheng and Fengxiang in Fuping County, and his official voice was not bad.

It is worth mentioning that during his stay in Zhejiang, Li Zhi dredged the West Lake for 30 miles, built temples and planted peaches and willows, turning this area into a scenic spot. Every spring, Li Wei and his aides will bring one to the West Lake to handle official business. The lakes and mountains are beautiful. In the tenth year of Yongzheng, Li Wei was called to Beijing as the acting minister of punishments, and was later appointed as the governor of Zhili. In the 12th year of Yongzheng, Li Weitong and Hai Wang, the minister of finance, surveyed the seawall from Zhejiang. At that time, people thought that Li Wei was stroking Zhejiang again, cheering all the way. Hearing this, the great scholar sighed, "The ancients said what Xu and Fu said, instead of taking learning as the basis, they believed what they said!"

After three years in Qianlong, Li Jue suddenly suffered from liver disease while paying a visit to the Tailing Mausoleum (Yong Zhengdi Mausoleum), and later requested to retire for illness, but died before leaving office. It is said that before Li Jue died, "the tiles in the temple shook and the official's son roared." . Start at the same time and stop at the same time. So three days and three nights, the true qi will be exhausted. Fifty-three years "Later, at the request of Sun Jiagan, governor of Zhili, Li Jue entered the palace of famous officials in Zhili, and then entered the imperial palace. Later, I made a tour in the south and stumbled across it in the flower bed of the West Lake. This statue was actually made by Li Wei, his wife and concubines, and it was named "God of Lakes and Mountains". Qianlong was furious at this, ordered it to be destroyed, and reprimanded him, saying, "Li Jue was not a fair and pure minister at first because he borrowed from Emperor Cowen as soon as possible. Building a temple in the name is very different! "

On the other hand, why Li Jue, who was not born in the imperial examination, was reused mainly depends on the selection criteria of Yongzheng. When Kangxi elected officials in his later years, he paid the most attention to the incorruptibility of officials. As a result, local officials only care about honesty and reputation, but do nothing. As we all know, it is difficult to distinguish between honest and corrupt officials in the world. The blind pursuit of honest officials has led to many disadvantages. After Yongzheng came to power, people often said that honest officials were like "puppets", ugly and useless, which did no good to the national economy and people's livelihood. Therefore, Yongzheng's choice of talents is the first, and what qualifications or imperial examinations are the second. Just like likui jy and posthumous title's "Mindfulness", it not only reflects likui jy's way of being an official, but also reflects Yongzheng's criteria for selecting officials. It is precisely because of this that Li stood out and became an able minister in Yongzheng Dynasty. Isn't it a great blessing to be born in the world at the same time as a noble person?
