At 6 o'clock in the morning, at dawn, Sensen and I got up, freshened up, packed our bags, and prepared to set off for Dujiangyan, 61 kilometers away from Chengdu.
Dujiangyan is a world cultural heritage and a world irrigation engineering heritage. It is also the oldest, only remaining and still in use grand water conservancy project in the world that is characterized by no dam for water diversion.
Without Dujiangyan, there would be no "Land of Abundance" - Chengdu. Therefore, when traveling to Chengdu, you must go to Dujiangyan to appreciate the crystallization of the wisdom of the ancients and appreciate the spectacular scene when the Dujiangyan dam was opened.
Dujiangyan is an unknown hero to Chengdu. For more than two thousand years, he has been protecting his relatives - Chengdu.
The father of this unparalleled hero is Li Bing, the prefect of Shu County during the Warring States Period.
As early as two thousand years ago, the Chengdu Plain was plagued by floods and droughts all year round. Li Bai once lamented in "The Road to Shu is Difficult": "There are silkworms and fishtails, how confused the founding of the country is" and "people may become fish and turtles". These few lines of poetry are a true portrayal of that era.
In ancient times, whenever the Min River flooded, the Chengdu Plain turned into a vast ocean; when there was a drought, farmers would lose their harvest.
Minjiang River floods have long plagued Xichuan, disrupting people's livelihood and becoming a major obstacle to the survival and development of the ancient Shu Kingdom. Therefore, at the end of the Warring States Period, King Zhao of Qin appointed Li Bing as the prefect of Shu County to repair Dujiangyan.
Li Bing led his sons and everyone together to work together to overcome the dangers. After eight years, Dujiangyan, the unparalleled hero guarding Chengdu, was finally built.
Dujiangyan uses three magic weapons: Yuzui (diversion), Baopingkou (diversion and irrigation), and Feishayan (flood control) to restore peace to Chengdu for generations.
Dujiangyan Scenic Area is very large, covering an area of ??220 hectares. We climbed to the top of the tower and overlooked the entire Dujiangyan.
"It is better to come early than to arrive wisely." At noon, we happened to catch up with the fasting time in Dujiangyan.
So, I had my first fasting meal in my life.
Vegetarian meals are NT$10 per person, buffet style, you can serve your own dishes and rice. Looking at the unnamed green vegetables in the pot, I suddenly felt mixed emotions.
The vegetarian rice doesn’t look good, but it tastes great. The slender stems are chewy and juicy. After finishing the fasting meal, the aroma of green vegetables is still lingering on my lips and teeth.
The beautiful scenery outside the window and the delicious vegetarian meal make my mood suddenly brighter. They are like a gentle breeze, blowing away the fatigue caused by our hard work all morning.
After finishing the fast meal, Sensen and I rushed to Qingcheng Mountain.
Qingcheng Mountain is the main scenic spot of Dujiangyan, a world cultural heritage. It is one of the four famous religious mountains in China, one of the five fairy mountains, and one of the ten scenic spots in Chengdu.
Qingcheng Mountain is divided into Qingcheng front mountain and Qingcheng back mountain. Most tourists go to Qingcheng Qianshan. Qingcheng Qianshan is world-famous for Taoism.
Sensen and I are both materialists. Therefore, we seem a little out of touch with Qingcheng Qianshan, an important Taoist place.
While passing by a Taoist temple, we were "accosted" by a Taoist priest. This little Taoist priest has a very good ability to observe words and colors. Through our chatting with Sensen, he identified that we are girls from the Northeast.
When we passed by him, he actually said to us with a playful and unskilled Northeastern accent: "Sister, would you like to put on the incense quilt?"
My heart is full of surprise. I thought I heard wrong. But when I walked past him again, he repeated the same sentence.
The image of a Taoist priest with an immortal spirit in my heart collapsed in an instant.
Although, the scenery in Qingcheng Qianshan is also good. However, the magic spell of this Taoist friend in Qingcheng Qianshan, "Sister, put on the incense quilt?" destroyed all the fairy spirit in Qingcheng Qianshan, and we suddenly lost all interest.
On the way down the mountain, we ate wild yacon. Sweet, crisp, refreshing, thirst-quenching, it tastes great!
Delicious, it eliminates the unhappiness in the heart. After we went down the mountain, we went straight to the back mountain of Qingcheng. Today, we will stay in Tai’an Ancient Town at the foot of the back mountain of Qingcheng. Tonight, we are "Bai Suzhen at the foot of Qingcheng Mountain".
