A poem about cooking wine in the snow

A suggestion for my friend Liu.

Bai Juyi? Tang dynasty

There is a glimmer of green in the old bottle and a hint of red in the quiet stove.

With dusk and snow coming, how about a glass of wine?

Rhyme translation

The newly brewed rice wine is green and fragrant; A small red mud stove is burning crimson.

It's getting dark and snow is coming. Can I have a cup of hot wine in my humble place?

Free translation

My newly brewed rice wine has not been filtered, and there is a layer of green bubbles on the surface of the wine, which smells good. A small red mud stove for scalding wine is also ready.

It's cloudy. It seems to snow at night. Can you stay and have a drink with me?

To annotate ...

Liu Shijiu: In the poems left by Bai Juyi, there are not many references to Liu Shijiu, only two sentences. But there are many references to Liu's twenty-eight or twenty-eight ambassadors. Liu 28th is Liu Yuxi. Liu Shijiu is his cousin Liu Yutong, a wealthy businessman in Luoyang, who often associates with Bai Juyi.

Green ant refers to the green foam floating on the newly brewed unfiltered rice wine. Fermented grains (pēi): brewing.
