Juyanhai, located on the Gobi in the northwest of Ejina Banner, Inner Mongolia, is the tail lake of Heihe River, the second largest inland river in China, and was once one of the largest lakes in the northwest of China. In this arid and desolate land, its huge lakes bear the hope of life.
According to historical records, the Huns once called Juyanhai "Tianchi" and sacrificed it as a holy place. It was called Juyanze in the Han Dynasty and Xihai in the Jin Dynasty, and it was not until the Tang Dynasty that it was generally called Juyanhai.
An ill-fated life is a true portrayal of Ju Yanhai. According to the research of geologists, the largest Juyan Sea in history covers an area of more than 2,600 square kilometers.
By the Qin and Han dynasties, there were still more than 720 square kilometers, which nourished Ejina Oasis and gave birth to the famous ancient Juyan civilization at home and abroad. "A bicycle wants to ask questions and return to China to live in Juyan", "Tianjiao hunts outside Juyan, white grass burns wild" ... Wang Wei and other poets left many magnificent poems after stopping here.
Extended data
Historically, Ejina Banner once had dense forests and abundant aquatic plants. In the early days of the founding of New China, the Ejina section of Heihe River still operated all the year round, with an annual inflow of about 654.38 billion cubic meters. At that time, the West Juyan Sea and the East Juyan Sea in the lower reaches of Ejina River were called "double deserts". Wu Riga, born in Erkenchagan Gacha, Dongfeng Town, told reporters that when I was a child, the Heihe River gurgled and the grassland was green and beautiful. "My parents drove camels across the river, and the water didn't cross the hump."
With the passage of time, the lower reaches of the Heihe River gradually cut off, and the West Juyan Sea and the East Juyan Sea lacked the injection of black river water, which completely dried up in 196 1 and 1992 respectively. This is also the starting point of ecological deterioration in Ejina Banner.
