Historically, Yuantong Temple was small in scale. When it was restored and rebuilt in 2001, it was renamed Yuantong Temple. On March 31, 2003 (the 29th day of the second lunar month), the foundation stone of the Main Hall of Yuantong Temple was officially laid. After nearly ten years of hard work, Yuantong Temple has begun to take shape.
Now Yuantong Temple covers an area of ??more than 60 acres, with a construction area of ??19,000 square meters. It has archways, Tianwang Hall, Daxiong Hall, Guanyin Pavilion, Sutra Collection Tower, etc. There are towering ancient trees in the temple. Two trees are thousands of years old. The vigorous, tall and leafy ancient apricot trees are among the "Ten Scenery Trees" unique to Wujiang's cultural landscape.
The architecture of the palace is classical and magnificent, the Buddha statues are solemn, and the kindness is lifelike. You can feel the characteristics of the Guanyin Taoist Temple in the Lotus Buddha Kingdom everywhere; the open-air golden and jade Guanyin and the four-sided Guanyin in the Guanyin Pavilion are all large-scale Guanyin statues in the south of the Yangtze River, which can be compared with Putuo Mountain.
