Introduction:
On Chao Cuo is a character commentary written by Su Shi, a writer in the Northern Song Dynasty. The object of comment is Chao Cuo, a political reformer in the early years of the Western Han Dynasty. This article concludes that the failure to behead the princes was the reason why Yao Cuo was killed. The author thinks that Chao Cuo was killed because of the pressure caused by the Seven Kingdoms Rebellion and the slander of his political opponents, but he also puts forward another view, that is, Chao Cuo himself lacks strong will and fearless spirit in times of crisis, which gives his political opponents an opportunity to attack him. At the same time, by lamenting the failure of Chao Cuo's reform, the author expresses his anguish that he is willing to serve the country but has no intention to develop.
Creation background
On Chao Cuo is an article written by Su Shi in the fifth to sixth year of Jiayou (1060- 106 1) and presented to the court. There are two opinions about the specific time of the book "On Chao Cuo": one thinks that this article was written in Jiayou, Song Renzong for five years, and it was one of the twenty-five "Jin Lun" before the systematic examination; Another point of view is that this work was written in Jiayou for six years, and it is an exam-oriented article for Su Shi in the examination system.
First, in the fifth year of Song Renzong Jiayou, Su Shi served as the main book of Yiyang West in Henan Province in Fuchang County, Henan Province. Su Shi didn't go to his post, and was recommended by Ouyang Xiu and Yang Yi to live in Huaiyuan Post and prepare for the exam carefully. Before the exam, Su Shi published Twenty-five Poems of Jin Ce and Twenty-five Poems of Jin Lun by Yang Yi and others. Su Shi was recommended to take the secret cabinet exam because of his excellent strategy and speech.
Secondly, on August 17, 2006, Su Shi passed the examination of making a science pavilion and was able to take the court examination. On August 25th, 6th year of Jiayou, Song Renzong was called "palace examination" in Chongzheng Hall. Su Shi first presented twenty-five articles such as The Doctrine of the Mean and On Hanshu, and then replied to Ce Wen, that is, "imperial trial work and scientific strategy were combined into one", which was composed of more than 5,000 words and compiled into the third class.
