Helan Mountain Range is located at the junction of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region and Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, starting from Bayan Aobao in the north and reaching Maotukeng Aobao and Qingtongxia in the south. The mountains are majestic, like galloping horses.
Mongolians call the steed "Helan", hence the name Helan Mountain (this is wrong. In the Tang Dynasty, Wei Chan wrote a poem: "Orchard under Helan Mountain was completed", and Mongolians only rose in the13rd century, saying that it originated from Mongolian is just a common saying).
Helan Mountain is 220 kilometers long from north to south and 20 ~ 40 kilometers wide from east to west. The southern section of the mountain is gentle, and the northern section north of Sanguan is relatively high, with an altitude of 2000 ~ 3000 meters. The main peak, also known as Helan Mountain, is 3556 meters above sea level.
The mountain area is asymmetrical from east to west, with gentle slopes on the west and faults in Yinchuan Plain on the east. Helan Mountain is a strong earthquake area, with an earthquake of magnitude 8 near Yinchuan 1739, and an earthquake of magnitude 7.5 in Zhongning 156 1 and Zhongwei 1709.
