Stories or legends about horses

In 663 BC, at the request of Yan State, Duke Huan of Qi sent troops to attack the Shanrong (now eastern Hebei) who invaded Yan State. Prime Minister Guan Zhong and doctor Xi Peng accompanied him.

When the Qi army rushed to the Yan State, the Shanrong army had already plundered a lot of property and fled to the Guzhu State to the east of it. Duke Huan of Qi led the army to continue the pursuit, and finally won.

When they returned in triumph, the army got lost in a valley. Guan Zhong immediately picked out a few old horses, unbridled them, and let them walk freely at the front of the army, and finally walked out of the valley. Found the road back to Qi.

Red Rabbit "Three Kingdoms Wei Zhi Biography of Lu Bu" says: "There is a good horse named Red Rabbit." The description in "The Romance of the Three Kingdoms" is even clearer. The Red Rabbit Horse is a good BMW horse brought by Dong Zhuo from Xiliang. In order to win over the young general Lu Bu, Dong Zhuo gave this horse to him. After Lv Bu got the horse, he killed his original master Ding Yuan and defected to Dong Zhuo's family, becoming his adopted son. Later, this horse followed Lu Bu to show his great power. But at Baimen Tower, because of Liu Bei's words, Cao Cao killed Lu Bu, and the red rabbit and horse belonged to Cao Cao. It was also a coincidence that Guan Yu temporarily took refuge with Cao Cao in order to protect Liu Bei's two wives. Cao Cao cherished Guan Yu's talents very much. I also want to imitate Dong Zhuo's "BMW presents heroes". But after all, Guan Yu is not Lu Bu. He accepted Chitu just to find Liu Bei faster. From then on, the Red Rabbit Horse and the Qinglong Yanyue Sword became the representative images of Guan Yu. When Guan Yu defeated Maicheng and was killed by Soochow, the red rabbit horse was obtained by Ma Zhong. But this time it no longer obeyed its new master, went on a hunger strike and died, and followed its old master Guan Yu.

Suddenly, the horse went crazy, threw the prince to the ground, and headed towards the distance of the grassland. , the prince ordered his servants to shoot the horse to death with poisonous arrows, but the horse still kept running after being hit by the arrow. It ran towards the direction of the owner Su He's home, and finally dragged his exhausted body to Su He's yurt and fell to the ground. , howling for a long time, when Su He came out, he saw his beloved horse panting on the ground, and then finally died~~

In order to commemorate him, Su He specially used this horse The bones of the horse were made into a musical instrument, with horse hair as the strings. The sound produced was exactly the same as the horse's cry during his lifetime. He was later named Matouqin~~

The most famous one at that time Count Guan Yu’s red rabbits and horses. According to folklore, when Guan Yu was stationed in Hanyang, he often washed his beloved war horse, the Red Rabbit Horse, by the Yangtze River. Today, the Hanyang Bridge head of the Yangtze River Bridge to the north of Yugongji is called Ximakou, and a stone pillar was originally erected next to it. , called the horse-tying stake. Zhao Bi, the emperor of Hanyang in the Ming Dynasty, wrote a poem specifically praising the horse-washing port: "After the war, the iron cages were washed on the battlefield, and the power of the tiger ministers has shaken the east of the Yangtze River. The water reflects the clear clouds and is red, like a dragon dyed with sweat and blood." "Another version says that there is a Xima Cave in Yugongji, which is "a trace at the same time" as the Xima Mouth. The name of the Xima Long Street in Hanyang today comes from this. It is also said that there is a cave on the left side of Guishan Mountain, called Zangma Cave. Guan Yu once led his horse to rest here, and it is also called Guan Yu Cave. There is a temple in Zhuodao Spring at the foot of Fuhu Mountain in Wuchang, which enshrines a statue of Guan Yu. It was called Zhuodao Spring because when Guan Yu was marching here, he poked the ground with the hilt of his sword to get a spring, which fed all the troops. The red rabbit horse carrying Guan Yu still left many relics and stories in Wuhan thousands of years later. This also reflects the Wuhan people's admiration for Guan Yu's bravery, loyalty, enthusiasm and other spirits.

The most pitiable thing is the white horse of Lu Su, a famous official in Soochow. Legend has it that after the Battle of Chibi, Lu Su fled in a hurry. When he was riding his white horse across the small island of East Lake, the horse fell into the mud and died. People mourned his misfortune and praised his loyalty, so they called the small island Baimazhou.

The horse with the greatest contribution is undoubtedly the Oolong colt of Yan Yan, the general of the Shu Han Dynasty. There are Jiangjun Mountain and Wulong Spring in Wuhan's Jiangxia District. On the cliffs on the mountains are the poems "The general's talents in civil and military affairs are unparalleled in the world, and the general helped the country to defeat the three Wus" to commemorate Yan Yan's stationed here and resist the Wu soldiers. Legend has it that General Yan rode an Oolong horse to find a clear spring, which solved the drinking water problem for farmers and soldiers on the mountain. From then on, the place names of Oolong Spring and Longquan Mountain are still in use today.

The most tragic horse story is about the ancient battlefield at Junshan in Hanyang. There are two mountains near Junshan Town, Hanyang County, one big and one small, called Dajunshan and Xiaojunshan. Wu and Wei fought against each other, and Zeng and Chen Bing fought fierce and cruel battles between the two mountains. It was recorded in "Hanyang Prefecture Chronicles" written by Jiajing of the Ming Dynasty that on the 15th day of every month, on a rainy and gloomy night, the sound of neighing war horses and fierce battles with golden drums could be heard here. Zhao Bi wrote a poem: "Two heroes standing on horns devoured each other, and the oak tree faded and thousands of horses galloped. In the middle of the night, there was a bad wind and rain in front of the mountain, and the ghosts still blamed themselves for Cao Sun." If war horses have souls, there are many on this ancient battlefield in Wuhan. The spirit of the horse is still galloping.

Xu Beihong painted horses throughout his life

There are hundreds of horses painted by Xu Beihong in his life, but they can be divided into three categories: 1. Pegasus horses with unrestrained imagination; 2. Horses standing upright in the setting sun; 3. ?The horses are running in small steps. The horses painted are all thin horses.

The beihong's horse always embodies the painter's patriotism. In the early days, horses "wandered around looking around, lonely and lonely" and "ran all day long in search of life"; after "September 18th", they changed into "whining and thinking about fighting, standing up to the sky", "the autumn wind looked back frequently, Get to know the horses from the old battlefield. Painters sometimes use horses to express depressed mood, such as "I will carry the horse to the end of the world", and sometimes use horses to express hopes and ideals, "I hope we will die in the long march." After liberation, his horse became a galloping horse that "went through hundreds of battles in mountains and rivers and returned to democracy, and eradicated all rugged roads and smooth roads."
