Historical Records of Genting in Haiyang

Sufeng Pavilion-When Zheng Banqiao, one of the Eight Eccentrics in Yangzhou, was a magistrate in Weixian County, Shandong Province, he learned that there were bamboos in Haiyang all his life, but he was used to painting southern bamboos, so he went to Genting to travel and paint bamboos, and soon entered the artistic conception. He sat in the bamboo forest and watched bamboos for three days and nights, realizing the "Wild Fox Zen". Later, Zheng Banqiao introduced bamboo from his hometown Xinghua to Genting, so there was "Banqiao Bamboo". In those days, the pavilion where Zheng Banqiao painted poems in Genting was called "Sufeng Pavilion", and he left a few masterpieces here, such as "The flowers and plants are the most endless in four seasons, and when they are fragrant, they will be empty. Only pine and bamboo in the mountains, through spring, summer and autumn and winter. " There is also the famous "Bamboo Stone": "I insist that the green hills are not relaxed, the roots are originally in the broken rocks, and I am still strong after thousands of blows, and I am willing to wind in the east, west, north and south."

Dongpo Forest-The legend of "Dongpo Forest" in Genting was planted by Su Dongpo himself. At that time, Su Dongpo was demoted from Huangzhou to Dengzhou as the magistrate. When he heard that there were bamboos in Haiyang, he came in a hurry. When he saw Genting Bamboo Sea, he was amazed. I didn't expect that there was such a large bamboo forest in Jiangbei, which was regarded as the hometown of immortals, and bamboo was planted in Genting from his hometown, so Nanzhu took root in the north. He set up a bamboo pavilion in the bamboo forest according to the style of his hometown at the Qingtan side of Genting, and was later named "Dongpo Pavilion". He built a bamboo bridge and a waterwheel on the stream, which was quiet and comfortable and had a unique charm of his hometown, so he often recited poems and chanted bamboo here. The most famous poem is: "It is better to eat without meat than to live without bamboo," which shows his deep love for bamboo.

Genting Bamboo Forest, the seven sages' residence, is a world of scholars all over the world, which is closely related to China literati. Legend has it that Ji Kangshan, the first of the "Seven Sages of Bamboo Forest", traveled all over the world to write a masterpiece, playing the sun and the moon all day in Genting Bamboo Sea, and wrote the masterpiece Guangling San.
