Ge Garden, formerly known as Shouzhi Garden, is located in the northeast corner of Guangling District, Yangzhou City, Jiangsu Province. It was built in the Ming Dynasty. It is a well-preserved classical salt merchant private garden with a long history and artistic value in Yangzhou City. It is a national 4A tourist attraction.
This scenic spot was renovated into a residence on the basis of Shouzhiyuan by Huang Zhiyun, the salt general of Lianghuai Province, in 1818. It was named after the owner's love for bamboo. It is also known as the Summer Palace in Beijing, the Summer Resort in Chengde and the Humble Administrator's Garden in Suzhou. It is one of the four famous gardens. The park is divided into four parts: residential areas in the south, gardens in the middle, Wanzhu Garden in the north, and Huajuli commercial and leisure district in the east.
The rockery in the garden cleverly combines the beautiful scenery of the four seasons into one space, integrating the painting philosophy of spring mountains for traveling, summer mountains for sightseeing, autumn mountains for climbing, and winter mountains for living. It was praised by the garden master Chen Congzhou as "the only one in China". example". This scenic spot is one of the 20 key parks in the country and one of the first batch of national key flower cultural bases. It has also been awarded the title of the third batch of China's key cultural relics protection units and the first batch of national key parks.
Attractions in the garden:
1. Baoshan Tower, Baoshan Tower is a long tower with seven couplets, spanning between two mountains in summer and autumn, with the two mountains leaning on the building from east to west. And, there are many mountains leading directly to the upper floor. Baoshan Building connects the two mountains in space, and the promenade in front of the building surrounds the two mountains in front of the chest. This is the origin of the name of Baoshan Building. On the corridor of Baoshan Tower, you can enjoy the scenery of summer and autumn, so it is jokingly called the "time and space tunnel" by modern people. On the south wall of the corridor downstairs, there is an inscription of "The Story of Bamboo and Stone" written by Liu Fenghao of the Qing Dynasty.
2. Qingyi Pavilion. Qingyi Pavilion is a small hexagonal pavilion. It is tall and dignified and can take in the whole garden scenery. Many Taihu stones are arranged around Qingyi Pavilion, and the outside of the Taihu stones is surrounded by a curve of green water. Qingyi Pavilion highlights its beauty under the heavy guard. Zhang Shuo and Qin's line title Qingyi Pavilion in Yangzhou Geyuan: The weather is full of bamboo atmosphere; the mountains and lakes are full of light.
3. Congshu Building, opposite Geyuan and south of Dongguan Street, is the former site of Xiaolinglongshan Pavilion owned by brothers Ma Riwan and Ma Rilu, another major salt merchant in Yangzhou. The Congshu Building of Xiaolinglongshan Pavilion houses a collection of books. It is known as "the largest river in the north and south". Later, the Ma family became increasingly depressed with the decline of the Yangzhou Salt Transport. The Xiaolinglong Mountain Hall changed hands several times, and was finally bought by Huang Zhiyun as a separate courtyard. It was destroyed by war during the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom.
4. Zhuqiu Pavilion is located on the south peak of Qiu Mountain. It faces east and faces west. It is built against the wall and has windows on three sides. It is the largest building on the rockery in the whole garden and the easternmost courtyard. There are stone steps to go up to the south peak of Qiushan Mountain. The couplet in front of the pavilion, "Autumn comes in from the sound of summer rain, spring is found in plum blossom stamens" was inscribed by Zheng Xie (Zheng Banqiao).
5. Yiyuxuan. In the middle of the Four Seasons Garden of Geyuan is "Yiyuxuan". It has three columns in the east and four empty windows, allowing you to have a panoramic view of the garden. The roof of the pavilion is made of black tiles that are common in Yangzhou, with the four corners rising slightly. There are still several pieces of stained glass imported from France when the garden was built on the east and west walls. Yiyuxuan is the place where the garden owner receives guests. There is a couplet in front of the pavilion: in the morning it is better to tune the harp and in the evening it is better to play the harp.
6. Miku Gallery. Miku Gallery has several winding corridors and small pavilions. It is the place where the owner searches for poems. There is a couplet hanging, "The moon reflects the bamboo into thousands of words, and the frost and high plum blossoms are full of flowers." ". Migurang is connected to the West Road building, and can lead to Xia Mountain to the northwest, to the north to Yiyuxuan, the main building of the "Four Seasons Rockery", and to the east to Spring Mountain and Winter Mountain.
