The number of tulou in Quanzhou is small, mainly distributed in Dehua, Yongchun, Anxi and other inland counties, and there are also some places in coastal counties. In addition to earth buildings, there are also wooden buildings, bamboo buildings and diaojiao buildings in Quanzhou, which are mainly distributed in places rich in bamboo and wood resources such as Yongchun and Dehua. Among all kinds of traditional buildings in Quanzhou, the combination of Chinese and western architecture is particularly common in modern times. A considerable part of them were built by overseas Chinese in those years, and some building materials were shipped back from abroad. Up to now, the ancient residential buildings with a combination of Chinese and western styles scattered in the streets and alleys are obvious evidence. These Chinese and Western buildings are rare materials to understand the activities, business contacts, history and culture of overseas Chinese in Quanzhou in various periods, and they are also "living historical materials" to study the modern architectural history of Quanzhou.
