Deng's cursive couplets of "The Sea is the Dragon Realm" are not strange, but wonderful and detached.

Deng's five-character cursive couplet "The Sea is a Dragon's World" is a masterpiece of Deng's cursive script and a well-known calligraphy masterpiece. This book was written in 1804. Two years later, Deng died. The original is now in the National Museum.

There is an anecdote about the creation of this masterpiece: in the summer of Jiaqing's ninth year, Deng accidentally met the Zen master in Lingyin Temple, and the two met for several days. Deng paid a visit to the Zen master, and he became interested in calligraphy. After traveling together, he wrote this couplet for the Zen master as a parting message. The whole work is "dragon" and "crane"

It is generally believed that Deng's regular script, running script and cursive script often involve seal script, and we can appreciate this by appreciating this couplet. The perfect atmosphere, sharp brushwork and abundant momentum make the whole work have a sudden mood, which sweeps away the academic attitude and atmosphere of sticking to calligraphy and obsequiousness during the reign of Ganjia.
