The Significance of Delighting in Rain on a Spring Night's Poetry

The Translation of Delighting in Rain on a Spring Night by Du Fu, a Poet in Tang Dynasty;

Good rain seems to pick the right time, arrival in the spring of everything. With the breeze, quietly into the night. Fine and dense, nourishing everything on the earth.

Thick dark clouds covered the fields and paths, and only a little fishing fire from a fishing boat by the river emitted a ray of light, which was particularly bright. When the morning comes, the wet soil must be covered with red petals, and the streets and alleys of Jinguancheng must be a colorful scene.

Original text:

Good rain knows the season, when spring comes.

Sneak into the night with the wind, moisten things silently.

The wild path is dark, and the river is bright.

Look at the red and wet place, the flowers in Jinguancheng are heavy.

Poetry appreciation

The poem "Delighting in Rain on a Spring Night" depicts the characteristics of spring rain and the scene of rainy night in Chengdu with great joy, and enthusiastically eulogizes the moisture of timely rain.

Ordinary scenes are the most difficult to write. Only great poets can write difficult scenes like this, and they are so vivid and immersive.

This is a five-rhyme song. The first two songs are combined with flowing water, and the charm of spring rain is written in one breath. The ending rhymes rigorously and seamlessly.

The poet expresses the good rain in spring night according to the process and angle of listening to the rain first, then looking up at the rain, and then closing his eyes and imagining. Poetry from auditory writing to visual, and even psychological feelings, from night to morning, is rigorous in structure, exquisite in description and refined in language, and skillfully uses artistic techniques with strong expressive force such as personification and contrast.

In poetry, every sentence describes the scenery and every sentence describes the feelings. There is no need for words like joy and joy, but it reveals a happy atmosphere and a bright mood everywhere.

The poet looks forward to such "good rain" and loves our "good rain". Therefore, although the word "hi" in the title does not appear in the poem, the meaning of "hi" is through the cracks. The poet looked forward to the spring rain "moistening things silently", and it began to rain. As soon as he came up, he called "good" with joy.

The second couplet was written by the poet. The poet listened attentively and heard the rain pouring down underground on a spring night, just to "moisten things quietly". Dont Ask For Help knew he was naturally "happy" and couldn't sleep. Because the rain is "moist and silent", I can't hear clearly. I am afraid that the rain will stop, so I will go out and watch it.

The third section is about what the poet saw. Seeing the strong rain, I can't help but imagine the beautiful scenery of the city in spring after dawn. Its infinite joy is very vivid. Du Fu's joy of "moistening things silently" in the spring rain is naturally a noble feeling.
