Taiyuan Xishan Tunnel is in Taiyuan Xishan.

Taiyuan Xishan belongs to the Luliang Mountain system, bearing the history of ancient Jinyang civilization for five thousand years. Dozens of kilometers of Xishan is like a huge screen of famous mountains. From the Fenhe River exit of Shanglan Village, there are Lishi Mountain, Juewei Mountain, Yingshan Mountain, Shishi Mountain, Mengshan Mountain, Taishan Mountain, Longshan Mountain, Xingweng Mountain, Tianlong Mountain (Fangshan), Xiangshan Mountain, Qian Miao Mountain (Jianshan Mountain), Silkworm Mountain, Guwei Mountain, YinNiu Shan Mountain, Black Camel Mountain and Qiku Mountain, which are really beautiful and famous. Yuan Haowen, a poet in the Jin Dynasty, praised the Western Hills with the poem "The Western Hills on the water are like hanging screens, and three miles are gloomy". There are many cultural and historical sites on the western hills, which are of rich historical value. Xishan Mountain is the backbone of Longcheng Taiyuan, and is said to be the seat of ancient Jinyang Long Mai. Visitors to Xishan will deeply feel the profound historical and cultural connotation of Jinyang.

Lishishan is 23 kilometers away from the city center and covers an area of more than 2,000 mu. Sok Li Koushan is magnificent and is the mouth of Fenhe River. To the west is Silent Temple, a national key cultural relic protection unit. The giant Buddha in the temple is 9.6 meters high and carved from earth, also known as Tutang Buddhist Temple. This temple has three entrances. Reconstruction of Northern Qi Dynasty, many times in Ming and Qing Dynasties. To the east are Fenshui, Cooper and Qitian, and the strange cypress in the earth pond is one of the eight scenic spots in ancient Taiyuan. Fenhe River, famous for its late crossing, is located in the east of the temple. On the east side of the river bank, there is the Doctor Dou Temple of the State of Jin, a national key cultural relic protection unit. There are dangerous peaks on the left, clear streams gurgling, and the halls are towering with cypresses. Before it was built in Tang Han, there was a scenic spot called "Lishi Cold Spring" on the left side of the temple, and there was Fu Shan Temple three miles above the right. Shenmu, Erlang God's handprint, Zhao's former residence, Chaoyang Cave and Mr. Fu Shan's seclusion scenery. Folk cultures such as river lanterns, sky lanterns and sand sculptures are colorful. There are giant buddhas in Tianlong Mountain Tianlong Temple, Longshan Tongzi Temple and Mengshan Kaihua Temple. Which is the "Xishan Giant Buddha"? Historians have different opinions, some say "Tianlong Mountain Statue", and some say "It is in Mengshan Mountain, but it no longer exists". "The Book of the Northern Qi Dynasty" contains: "Carve the giant Buddha statue in Jinyang Xishan, burn ten thousand pots of oil overnight, and shine on the palace". "Palace" refers to the famous Jin Yanggong in history, and its site is in the area of Jiulong Temple, Guchengying Village, Jinyuan Town. It seems that the giant Buddha is the "ten thousand pots of oil" that shines in the ancient city and village. Tianlongshan Giant Buddha is located more than 30 miles southwest of Guchengying Village, blocked by Longshan in the middle, and the light can't reach Guchengying Village. It can be seen that the "Tianlong Mountain Statue" is not a "Xishan Buddha". There are records about the giant Buddha in Tongyu Temple in Longshan, inscriptions and local chronicles. This giant Buddha was carved in the seventh year of Tianbao in the Northern Qi Dynasty (556). It was carved into Galway Buddha before, indicating that this is not the "Western Mountain Buddha", so it is only the giant Buddha of Mengshan Kaihua Temple. Mengshan Kaihua Temple was destroyed during the Cultural Revolution. Among the remaining broken monuments found in the temple, five generations of Liu Zhiyuan rebuilt the solemn pavilion monument of Mengshan Hua Kai, and there is a "Western Mountain Buddha" in the monument. And the record seems to be "a mile behind the house." Housi no longer exists and is called "Dadu Cliff". At close range, the rock looks like a big belly, and at a distance, the chest and arms are clear and headless. It was originally carved from a rock. The chest and neck of a stone carving giant stand out in the mountains. Climb up the giant's neck and look to the southeast. Among the mountains, you can see the ancient city Yingcun, 20 miles away, and the site of Jin Yanggong is in front of you. It is indeed possible to "light the palace with oil." This stone carving giant is the "Jinyang Xishan Giant Buddha".
