Today is April 23rd. 1949—— The China People's Liberation Army occupied Nanjing, the ruling center of the Kuomintang, and the "Blue Sky and White Day" flag symbolizing the 22-year reactionary rule of the Kuomintang fell to the ground with the cheers of PLA officers and soldiers.
From the end of 1948 to the beginning of 1949, in the face of the powerful offensive of the People's Liberation Army, the reactionary Kuomintang government that was still alive released a smoke screen for peace talks. The Central Committee has shown its sincerity by agreeing to the peace talks in the interests of the people 2. However, the negotiations lasted until April 20, but the Kuomintang government flatly refused to accept the domestic peace agreement. In order to liberate the people of the whole country and defend the independence and integrity of China's territorial sovereignty, the next day, President Mao Zedong and Commander-in-Chief Zhu De jointly issued the Order to March to the Whole Country, ordering the People's Liberation Army to "March forward courageously and resolutely, thoroughly, cleanly and thoroughly annihilate all Kuomintang reactionaries who dare to resist in China".
According to this order, under the unified command of Deng Xiaoping, secretary of the General Front Committee, the millions of troops of the Second and Third Field Army braved the wind and waves on the thousand-mile front from Hukou, Jiangxi Province in the west to Jiangyin, Jiangsu Province in the east, and crossed the Yangtze River natural barrier in three ways to destroy and destroy the Yangtze River defense line painstakingly managed by the Kuomintang for a long time.
Subtitle: Nanjing Kuomintang "Presidential Office", a once luxurious and tidy building, is now a mess everywhere. Not only did the attendants of the KMT chairman not have time to take away the documents, but even the military uniforms were hung on the coat hooks, and the telephone on the desk was still working. Even the desk calendar on the table is still fixed on April 23.
On this day, People's Daily published the news of Nanjing's liberation. After reading the newspaper in Shuangqing Mountain Villa in Xiangshan, Beiping, Mao Zedong couldn't restrain his joy, wrote a congratulatory message to Liu Bocheng and Deng Xiaoping, and wrote the famous "Seven Laws: The People's Liberation Army Occupied Nanjing":
Zhongshan is windy and rainy, and millions of heroes cross the river.
Tiger's dragon card is better than in the past, upside down and generous.
It is advisable to chase after the poor bandits with the remaining courage, not to learn from the overlord.
If the sky is sentimental, it will grow old, and the right way in the world is vicissitudes.
This magnificent poem clearly expresses the determination of China producers represented by Mao Zedong to carry out the revolution to the end. Since then, the People's Liberation Army has swept thousands of miles, and the bright August 1st flag has been flying all over the country.
