Poetry has the inherent attribute of "singing to express one's aspirations", so expressing one's emotions has become the core purpose of poetry. Qu Yuan's Li Sao, the style of the Wei and Jin Dynasties, and even Tang poetry, Song lyrics and Yuan music, etc. Mostly works expressing feelings and hugs.
When most literati are lonely, they often have sentimental words, and they use poems to express them. For example, Li Bai's "Oh, how can I bow down solemnly to the nobles", Du Fu's "Misfortune comes with blessings on the temples, sadness and tiredness come with the dust of wine", Su Dongpo's "Life is like a journey against the odds, and I am also a traveler", Qin Guan "Chen Jiang was fortunate to follow Rao Chenshan, who went to Xiaoxiang" and so on. These verses are the words of a poet who has a grievance and does not want to express his displeasure. Too much is "never complain about poetry"!
It is really insulting to use "complaint" to describe a poem, but there is such a poem that is actually a "complaint language". It can be said to be the most complaining poem in history. . It is the song Bodhisattvaman written by Sun Zhu, a poet of the Northern Song Dynasty:
The Bodhisattva is beautiful
There are three drums on the ground, why push people to death! The horse is in a hurry, but the pipa is not finished yet.
Looking back, it was cheaper and rainier. Tao is full of jade, and the jade hall lasts all night.
To understand the accusation of this word, we must first understand the background of its lyrics: it is said that Sun Zhu had a bachelor's degree in Hanlin and specialized in drafting edicts for the imperial court. One night, Sun Zhu attended a banquet at a friend's house. At that time, he was obsessed with a pipa played by a singer and was reluctant to leave. However, under the pressure of the imperial edict, palace officials urged them to go to the Hanlin Academy. After Sun Zhu drafted the imperial edict, he wrote this appeal to express his regret.
It is not difficult to understand its meaning once you know the writing background of this word. Look at Sun Zhu's complaint: "There are three drums in the building, why do you have to push people to death?"! In the ancient imperial city, every night shift had to play drums. It's still three o'clock in the morning, why rush people to leave? It can be seen that Sun Zhu lingered and complained that the emperor's life was inhumane. However, it was difficult to disobey the emperor's order, so he had to "mount his horse in a hurry". Although he was already on his horse, he still thought of "the pipa is not finished yet". The feelings of nostalgia and complaint are beyond words!
Xiaque further described this nostalgia: "Looking back, it's cheaper than rain." While people are on horseback, their hearts are still at the banquet. When you look back, you can't help but cover your eyes with drizzle. It’s quite sad to use the language of scenery to express my feelings. The last sentence is "Yutang is a hall, and the night is long in the Yutang." "Yutang" refers to a senior official in the Hanlin Academy. Sun Zhu sat in the "Yutang" for a long night, feeling even more regretful.
This poem is good for expressing emotions, but the emotions it expresses are really embarrassing for the poet. Su Dongpo, Li Bai, and Xin Qiji were all people who wanted to serve the country, but they could not just express their depression and say "complaining" words. Sun Zhu, who was a Hanlin scholar, was faced with the important task of drafting the edict. He missed the pipa banquet and complained about the edict and writing lyrics.
I really can’t compliment you!
