1072 (Xining five years), Su Shi was a general judge in Hangzhou. On June 27th this year, I visited the West Lake, saw the wonderful lakes and mountains on the boat, and then went to Wanghulou to drink and wrote five quatrains. This is the second one.

This poem is about a boat trip to the lake.

In the Northern Song Dynasty, the West Lake in Hangzhou was designated as a releasing pond by the government. Wang Zhu quoted Zhang Qian as saying: "In the fourth year of Tianxi (referring to 1020), Prince Taibao sentenced Hangzhou Wang Qinruo to play: Take the West Lake as a release pond,' no birds to catch, pray to the Lord'." This is equivalent to a modern game reserve and game reserve; The only difference is that some people used to sell fish and set them free, so they had to play a trick of "blessing". Since the West Lake is a no-fishing area, it is also a no-planting area, and private people are not allowed to occupy the lake for planting. At the beginning of the poem, write down this fact. Those fish and turtles that are released and grow freely are not threatened by people, but given by people. People who swim in the lake often put bait in the water to attract those little guys to eat. Leave them alone, they will catch up with people by reflex. As for the lotus flowers all over the lake, no one planted them, but they grew by natural forces. A cluster in the east and a cluster in the west opened and fell, but they showed a kind of wildness.

However, the interest of this poem lies in the last two sentences. "Water pillows can make mountains pitch"-mountains can't pitch. Du Fu has a saying that "the wind and rain don't move like a mountain" ("a hut was blown down by the autumn wind"), and Du Mu also has an old saying that "the mountain climbs like a mountain" ("Seeing Meng Chi off in Chizhou"), but Su Shi insists on "the mountain climbs". The poet thinks that the reason why mountains can pitch is because there is a "water pillow". The so-called "water pillow" is to put the pillow on the water. On the boat, to be exact. As soon as the boat swung, people lying on it saw the mountain tilting. This is not surprising. Many people have had this experience. The problem is that the poet gave the "divine power" to the "water pillow", just like this "water pillow" can have great divine power, enough to overturn the whole mountain. The idea shows a pleasure.

Wandering with the Wind, the Boat and the Moon-it is also about the pleasure of swimming on the boat. The wind blows on the lake and the boat drifts with the wind. This is also common, not surprising. People sit in the yard and look up at the moon. The moon moves slowly in the clouds, just like wandering in the sky. So Li Bai said, "I sang. The moon encourages me and I dance. My shadow is rolling behind. " (Drinking the bright moon alone) This is nothing new. The difference is that Su Shi gently painted the drifting of the ship and the drifting of the moon together, which produced new ideas. The ship is wandering and the moon is wandering, but the poet doesn't know whether the moon caused the ship to wander or the ship made the moon wander happily. The poet thought, if it is the power of the wind that makes the ship wander on the water, what power makes the moon wander in the sky? Also, are these two kinds of vagrancy the same or different? He linked "ship" with "moon", which caused many problems, including some philosophies. He should calm down and think about it. Therefore, this poem is very interesting.
