Does the tortoise hibernate?

1. Turtles need to hibernate. Turtles are cold-blooded animals, so they can't keep warm in winter to spend the cold winter. Therefore, turtles need to enter hibernation to survive the winter safely.

Breeders need to replenish nutrients to turtles two months before hibernation, so that turtles can accumulate enough fat for the winter. During the tortoise's hibernation for half a month, it is necessary to stop feeding and let the tortoise excrete waste.

Breeders also need to prepare soft and clean sand for turtles to dig holes and hibernate. After the turtle hibernates in the sand, the breeder needs to cover the surface with a wet towel to moisturize the turtle.

The tortoise needs to hibernate, because it is a warm animal. When the temperature drops below 10 degrees, stop eating and enter the hibernation period. Don't eat, don't move, its metabolism is very weak, until the temperature rises above 15~ 15 degrees, it begins to do a lot of activities and eat. If it is domestic, you must keep warm during hibernation, don't feed it, and then don't change water.

Hibernation is the result of turtles adapting to the natural environment. If the owner can keep the ambient temperature and water temperature above 25 degrees Celsius, the turtle's metabolism is relatively strong at this time, so there is no need to enter hibernation. If the owner can't guarantee the ambient temperature, he can gradually reduce the turtle's food intake about one month before hibernation, and usually let the turtle empty its intestines for one to two weeks to maintain the ambient temperature at about five to ten degrees Celsius.
