When the Chu and Han Dynasties were fighting, Xiang Yu was defeated and went to the Wujiang River alone. The head of the Wujiang Pavilion wanted to ferry Xiang Yu across the river by boat, saying: "Although the east of the river is small, The land is thousands of miles away, and there are hundreds of thousands of people, so he is worthy of being a king." But Xiang Yu refused and said, "My father from the east of the Yangtze River is pitiful about me, how can I see him?" So he committed suicide. In this ancient poem, the poet believes that Xiang Yu should return to Jiangdong. There are many talented people in Jiangdong who may be able to make a comeback and conquer the world. The poem expresses the poet's regret that the years have flown by and his ambition to serve the country loyally has not been realized: The roaring river cannot wash away the resentment of the hero, and the years are wasted. Heroes will also age and wither like autumn vegetation.
