The main characteristics of Quanzhou Kiln

In today's Quanzhou City, Fujian Province, hence the name. *** Discovered eleven kiln sites including Wanyao Township, Cizao and Tongzishan, which mainly produced blue and white porcelain, celadon and black porcelain, all dating from the Song and Yuan dynasties. Its characteristics and identification essentials are:

(1) Blue and white porcelain products are mainly bowls, plates and washbasins. The outer wall of the bowl is engraved with lotus petals. Most of the plates are large plates with folded edges, and the center of the plate has traces of stacked and bonded strips. The washing utensils have a thin glaze and are fired by the overlay method. The mouth rim is unglazed. Compared with similar vessels in Jingdezhen, the mouth rim is thicker; the inside of the vessel is printed with floral patterns.

(2) The pot body in celadon products is thin and the shape of the vessel is small, which is different from other regions.

(3) Black porcelain products are mainly bowls and long-flow crank kettles. There are also black glaze and green glaze military holdings, which are mainly exported to the Philippines and other countries.

(4) Tongzishan kiln specializes in large pots with green-yellow glaze and brown painting. They have two shapes: straight mouth and folded rim. The interior of the pot is mostly painted with folded branches and floral patterns, and some of them write about Shoushan, Fuhai or other poems. A painted basin fired by this kiln was unearthed in Fukuoka, Japan.
