What is the complete poem "Night Rain Sends to the North" by Li Shangyu?

Li Shangyin - "Night Rain Sends to the North"

You asked about the return date but the time has not come yet, the night rain in Bashan swells the autumn pond.

Why should I cut off the candles from the west window and talk about the rainy night in Bashan?

Note:

Send to the north: Send to my wife who lives in the north. Li Shangyin was from Hanoi, Huaizhou (now Qinyang County, Henan). Hanoi is north of Bashu.

Undue date: There is no definite return date. It means that it is difficult to get together for a while.

Bashan: north of present-day Nanjiang County, Sichuan Province.

Cut the candle at the west window: cut the candle at the same time; cut the candle core under the west window.

Rejection: let’s talk about it all over again.

Appreciation: This is a lyric poem. On a rainy night in early autumn, I missed my distant wife infinitely, so I wrote this poem that has been passed down through the ages. Perhaps the reason why plain and simple poems have been circulated for thousands of years is because of this everlasting feeling. The first two sentences of the poem use questions and answers and describe the immediate environment, elucidating the feelings of loneliness and deep longing for his wife. The last two sentences imagine the joy of meeting again and talking in the future, contrasting with the loneliness tonight. The real emotions and novel ideas are amazing.

Li Shangyin (813-858), whose courtesy name was Yishan and whose name was Yuxisheng, was from Hanoi, Huaizhou (now Qinyang County, Henan Province). He was a poet in the late Tang Dynasty and was as famous as Du Mu. In terms of the gorgeousness of his words, he is close to Wen Tingyun, and was also called "Wen Li" in later generations. At first, he was appreciated by Gu Chu, the leader of the Niu Party, and was appointed as an inspector. In the second year of Kaicheng's reign, Ling Guxuan, the son of Ling Guchu, was recommended as a Jinshi. Tiao Hongnongwei. Wang Maoyuan of the Li party was in Heyang. He loved his talents and acted as secretary-general. Later Shangyin married the princess. This behavior was regarded by the Niu Party as "betraying the Lord and being ungrateful". From then on, he spent his whole life in the vortex of the partisan struggle between Niu and Li, unable to escape and depressed. Although he was hit at the beginning, he still had enthusiasm, opposed the eunuchs and the forces of the feudal town, and wanted to make a difference. When Li Deyu became prime minister, the government's affairs improved somewhat, and he became more active. Later, the Niu Party came to power and went against the grain politically. He was once again marginalized and worked as a staff member in Guizhou, Xuzhou, Zizhou and other places, and finally died of depression in Zhengzhou. His thoughts basically belong to Confucianism, but he values ??practicality and has a certain critical spirit towards Confucianism. He believes that there is no need to regard Confucius as a teacher, and there is no need to regard "making people" as virtuous. He also has Buddhist and Taoist thoughts and advocates taking "nature" as his ancestor. "Complete Poems of the Tang Dynasty" compiles three volumes of his poems. The poem is longer than seven lines and has the melancholy of Du Fu. The long political poem "A Journey to the Western Suburbs with One Hundred Rhymes" is an imitation of Du Fu's "Northern Expedition". It traces history, exposes corruption, and has the nature of summarizing lessons. "Han Bei" followed Han Yu's "Stone Drum Song" and praised Xianzong's pacification of the Huaixi rebellion. His "Yongshi", "Yougan", "Chongyougan", "Maoling", "Mawei", "Sui Palace", "Jia Sheng", etc., either directly or through chanting ancient times, criticize current affairs and satirize The meaning is very strong. "An Ding City Tower" expresses ambition and broad-mindedness, and refutes the suspicion and slander of villains about oneself. Among them, the two sentences "I will always remember the rivers and lakes with white hair, and I want to return to heaven and earth in a small boat" were praised by Wang Anshi. "Crying Liu Fan" accuses the villain of persecuting his old friend. Poems such as "Deng Le You Yuan" are sentimental. What best expresses its characteristics are love poems, which are elegant, sophisticated and hazy in artistic conception. He has written a lot of "untitled" poems. It is difficult to determine which ones are only about love and which ones have other sustenance. The poem "Jin Se" is said to be difficult to understand, and some people think it is a poem expressing one's life experience. "The Night Rain Sends to the North" has a clear meaning and sincere feelings. For details of his life, please see Volume 203 of "New Book of Tang". There are "Collected Poems of Yuxi Sheng" and "Collected Works of Fan Nan".
