In the Ming Dynasty, Gao Qi wrote Qin Tie to He Mingfu: The sunset is far away from the trees, and the autumn rain is all over the city.
Moral: Looking from a distance, the sunset hangs on the treetops, and the smoke from the frontier garrison wafts faintly. Autumn rain destroys lotus leaves, and rivers surround the city.
A Dream of Red Mansions by Cao Xueqin in Qing Dynasty: "Leave the residual lotus to listen to the rain"
Meaning: Leave the withered lotus leaves on the ground and listen to the bleak rain in the middle of the night.
Jia Baoyu disliked the destruction of the lotus leaf in the Grand View Garden, and casually said that it was hateful and wanted to send someone to pull it out. Daiyu argued with him, saying that she didn't like Li Yishan's poems at ordinary times, but only loved the phrase "Stay in the lotus and listen to the rain".
So Baoyu listened to Daiyu's words and immediately made an imperial edict. Nuo Nuo repeatedly said it was a good poem, so he left the broken lotus leaf behind.
