Rhetoric of Brocade

Li Jin's rhetorical devices are introduced as follows:

Jin Lie is a unique rhetorical device in Chinese. Its main feature is to use nouns or noun phrases to choose and combine, and through ingenious arrangement, to portray vivid and sensible images, so as to set off the atmosphere, create artistic conception and express emotions.

Jin Lie transforms abstract concepts into concrete images through carefully selected nouns or noun phrases and with the help of specific arrangement, so that readers can understand and feel the information conveyed by the author more intuitively.

This rhetorical device can not only enhance the expressive force of words, but also stimulate readers' association and imagination, thus further deepening the theme and emotion of the works.

In ancient poetry, compared with antithesis, the use of Jin Lie is not very common, but once properly used, it will often achieve very amazing results. Therefore, many of Jin Lie's famous sentences, such as "The old vine crows faint", "The chicken crows in Maodian" and "Painting willow on the bridge, the curtain is blue", all use Jin Lie's rhetorical devices.

The role of brocade:

Brocade can make sentences concise and full of charm, without any idle talk and highlight the theme. Because Jin Lie doesn't use verbs or adjectives to connect sentences, the sentence structure is relatively simple and the language is relatively refined.

For example, "the cock crows in Maodian and the frost on Banqiao is neglected", through a series of juxtaposition of images, vividly depicts a picture of doing good things in the morning, with concise language and full charm.

On the other hand, Li makes sentences vivid, describes things from multiple angles and gives people beautiful enjoyment. By using function words, Li vividly presents things to readers, so that readers can feel the scenes and things described by the author more intuitively.

Moreover, Li also made the sentence implicit and profound, conveyed the author's thoughts and feelings, and aroused readers' association. Although brocade is a noun, the juxtaposition of images just gives readers a blank space, allowing readers to form a complete artistic conception through the connection of images.
