Yan Zhenqing (79-785), whose name is Qing Chen, was born in Wanzhao, Jingzhao, and was a scholar of Tang Kaiyuan. He lived in Xuanzong, Suzong, Daizong and Dezong Dynasties. As a former prefect of Pingyuan, he was given the title of founding duke of Juelu County, which was called "Yan Pingyuan" or "Yan Lugong". He was upright and honest, and lived in the turning point of the Tang Dynasty's prosperity and decline. In the later period of Xuanzong Dynasty, treacherous court officials such as Yang Guozhong and Lu Qi were authoritarian and good at politics, and all of them were independent and struggled with them with the demeanor of Confucian scholars. After the Anshi Rebellion, he was a staunch opponent of rebellion and division. As an important minister of the country, he put his life and death at risk and tried his best to quell the rebellion. At the age of 76, he finally died. His personality is admired by later generations.
Liu Gongquan (778-865), whose name is sincere, was a native of Jing Zhaohua. He was another great calligrapher after Yan Zhenqing in Tang Dynasty. It is also one of the most influential regular script writers for later generations. His regular script, known as Liu Ti, has always been an important script for learners of regular script, and it is often a model for beginners to learn regular script.
