The core of Zhaoling Six Army Paintings
Zhaoling is the mausoleum of Emperor Taizong Li Shimin and Empress Wende, located in Liquan County, Shaanxi Province. There are cloisters on both sides of the memorial hall next to the tomb, and the stone carvings of "Zhaoling Six Horses" are listed among them. "Six Horses in Zhaoling" are six relief stone carvings originally placed in the corridors on both sides of the altar at the northern foot of Taizong in Zhaoling. The Six Horses refer to the six horses that Emperor Taizong rode and fought in the war to unify China. When Emperor Taizong built Zhaoling, the purpose of establishing six horses in Zhaoling by imperial edict was not only to show off his life's meritorious deeds, but also to commemorate these war horses who once lived together and warn future generations of the difficulty of starting a business.

The origin of "Zhaoling Six Horses" has been a mystery for nearly a hundred years. Generally speaking, ancient good horses, especially famous horses, have their own names, just like modern luxury cars have performance marks and appearance brands. Through etymology, it is determined that the names of the six generals in Zhaoling are not native names in the Central Plains. The Chinese meaning of the six generals should be carefully discussed in foreign languages, with Turkic as the "key" to solving puzzles and "fist hair?" It should have originated from Daliangma, and it belongs to a powerful country in the Hui nationality. Shifakai should be a mount named by a senior Turkish official, Shefa, while Baitiu should be a mount with an honorary proper name of Shaohan. Shaohan in Turkic language should be the original meaning of "white hoof" in Chinese and the word "Tele" in "Tele". "Purple dew" is simplified as "sand bowl", which means "purple steed of brave and healthy people". "Qing Zhui" comes from Turkic, which refers to the war horse from western Daqin. Emperor Taizong named his mount after a Turkic or Turkic official name, not only to praise the famous horse, but also to commemorate and boast of his great achievements.

In the battle of the founding of the People's Republic of China, the six commanders of Zhaoling rode out on horseback, trapped and destroyed the enemy, and made great contributions. Their names are: Saluzi, Gu, Baitiu, Te, and Shifachi. After Li Shimin ascended the throne, he began to build a cemetery for himself. In the tenth year of Zhenguan, the letter engraved the heroic spirit of the six horses on Shiping, and placed it in the North Que of Zhaoling. At the same time, I personally wrote a eulogy, recording the horse's name, skin color, riding time, arrow sores and temperament, to show my recognition and nostalgia for Liu Ma. This picture comes from painting and carving stones. Its location, such as Qiu statue, saddle and arrow sore, is also copied and marked clearly. This painting is vigorous and vigorous, which reminds people of the majestic style of painting horses in the Tang Dynasty and the majestic posture of six horses galloping on the battlefield.

The shape of the steed is loyal to the original and pays attention to the length of the painting. Through vigorous strokes and subtle coloring, the coat color of the horse is more real and natural, and the heroic posture of fighting and riding on the battlefield is also vividly portrayed. Whether you are running, prancing, walking or standing, you can do your best. Among the six emperors, the purple dew cited by the waiter is the most wonderful. According to "The Biography of Qiu Xing, a Book of the Old Tang Dynasty", "At the beginning of Taizong, if you want to know the actual strength, you can ride it with dozens of riders, and all of them are invincible. Dare not go to the front, many people died. Find the strength to ride a few people to chase Taizong, the arrow hit the imperial horse, ready to ride back and shoot it all. The thief didn't dare to go back, so he dismounted, drew his arrow and followed his horse into Taizong. Bowing down to the imperial horse, holding a long knife, he jumped up and shouted, beheaded several people, and suddenly entered and left the army. In Zhenguan, a stone carved for a horse stands in front of Zhaoling Que like a bow and arrow. " The picture shows the moment when Qiu Weilu pulls an arrow. The stout Qiu pulls the arrow with his right hand and pushes it with his left. He leans back, his eyes are gentle, and his love is beyond words. The injured horse stood meekly, with its head tightly attached to Qiu, and it was also very emotional. "Lu Luzi" depicts the horse's resistance to severe pain in a very subtle way, with tight front legs and slightly flexed rear legs. In detail, this painting is more subtle than stone carving. The other five horses, fist hair? Li Shimin rode a bike in Liu Heita and Taylor rode a bike in Song Jingang. They all crawled forward, pricked up their ears and stared. With nine arrows in his body? , a light start, head forward, more handsome and determined, revealing an extraordinary temperament of a battle-hardened god. Baitouwu, Qingsui and Shifakai rode in battles with Xue Renguo, Dou Jiande and Wang respectively, all in the shape of Mercedes-Benz, with horseshoes flying and manes flying everywhere, highlighting the dynamic and brave running and showing the majestic posture when they took the lead. Six Jun's movements, facial expressions and imposing manner are different, showing some grandeur and boldness, which can be called a masterpiece in the image of war horses in past dynasties. From the painting style, this painting obviously absorbed the artistic tradition of the Han nationality, and inherited the horse painting techniques of the Tang and Northern Song Dynasties, especially the charm of Han Gan in the Tang Dynasty. Accurate and simple modeling, soft and uniform line drawing, thick color and rich texture in rendering.

Every paragraph of this picture was written by Zhao Bingwen, a famous calligrapher in Jin Dynasty, and Zhao's books are rarely circulated. The relief of six horses in Zhaoling in Tang Dynasty was carved by Xerox in the early Song Dynasty. The line structure of this painting is almost the same as that of the stone rubbings. Zhao Lin probably participated in the production of rubbings of stone carvings in the Northern Song Dynasty (the original paintings of stone carvings are now in the Shaanxi Provincial Museum). This volume is headed by Emperor Qianlong's book Song of Stone Horse in Zhaoling, followed by Zhao Bingwen's inscription, pointing out that the author is Zhao Lin. There are records in books such as "The Continuation of Baodi in Shiqu" and "Essays in Shiqu".
