Introduction to Niu Shumei

Niu Shumei: (1791-1875), courtesy name Xueqiao, alias Shengzhai, a native of Tongwei, Gansu. In the 21st year of Daoguang's reign, he became a Jinshi and was awarded the title of magistrate of Zhangming County in Sichuan. He was proficient and capable and managed by not disturbing. He is clear and prudent in the execution of prisons, and the people hide everything and respect him. There will be no documents left in the case, and there will be no unjust prosecution. He is a proficient scholar and good at calligraphy. In the first year of Tongzhi, Luo Bingzhang, the governor of Sichuan, recommended him again and promoted him to be the envoy of Sichuan. The people happily told each other: "Niu Qingtian is here again!" Three years later, he was summoned internally, but because he was old and ill, he took charge of Jinjiang Academy in Chengdu.
